minnjudy Posted April 27, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 27, 2004 Our family of four, me, husb, and two sons ages 15-20 will be in St. Thomas for the first time, and I am wondering if Godfrey is a good choice for us. The variety of the day seems a good match for us, and it sounds reasonable. The next day we are doing the Amer Cup Regatta on St. Martin, so this may be a different pace? Do we get a good taste of the island from him? It sounds like most people have enjoyed him. Any advice would be welcome. gina2edu Posted April 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Could you post more information about the Godfrey Tour? I am trying to find a good tour of the island and I can't find too much. Where does the tour go? How much is it (always important to us poor folk)? And, is there a website with information? Thanks
jerrymac Posted April 28, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Just got back from Godfrey tour and it is worth every penny!($20 PP) His website is www.godfreytoursvi.com. He will pick you up from the ship at 9, 10 or 11 aM (ship time, your choice). He will drop you off for shopping and pick you up at noon. Then you will get 2 hour tour of island, he has lots of info about his island. You will go to mountaintop, coki beach and all main attractions. He then will give you the choice to go to a beach (coki, magens or sapphire ) or go back to ship. If you go to a beach, he will pick you up in 2 hours. Coki beach is right next to Coral world in case you wanted to check that out. He is very trust worthy and will take your possesions and lock in his cab while you leave his vehicle. 4/4 Victory cruise

MandyGirl Posted April 28, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 28, 2004 We took our wedding group on a tour with him and most were St Thomas first-timers. ALL loved the tour!! (wedding on St John in the morning, reception on catamaran over lunch, then an abbreviated tour with Godfrey on St Thomas in the afternoon). Like the previous poster said... definitely worth every penny! On a side note... The day before, several in our group had done America's Cup in St Marten and loved it - even those who had their own sailboats back home. sfischer Posted April 29, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2004 We just returned after sailing on the Carnival Glory last week. Booked the Godfrey tour via the internet. His tour was the best tour for the money of any shore excursion we took during the entire cruise. Godfrey is very professional and personable. I guess that he is very certain that you will like his tour, because he doesn't ask for payment ($20/person) until he drops you back off at the pier. His tour gives you a good overview of the island and still enables you to shop (the wife, that is), and to go to the beach if you desire. We would definitely recommend him. bob&karen Posted April 29, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 29, 2004 We just took the Godfrey tour a few weeks back and loved it. We second all of the positive comments above. For beach time, Coki is good if you're REALLY into snorkeling, but Saphire beach is GORGEOUS and the facilities are much nicer than Coki - it's right on a resort. Godfrey knows all the locals at each stop - when he took us to Saphire beach, rather than just drop us off he took us through the resort lobby, showed us the facilities and explained what was available. He's a total class act. For anyone interested, we have a good number of Godfrey Tour pix posted in our Webshots album at: April '04 Cruise - Saint Thomas Bob "These moments we’re left with - may you always remember These moments are shared, by few And those harbor lights, lord they’re coming into view We’ll bid our farewells much too soon So drink it up, this one’s for you - Honey, it’s been a lovely cruise." -- James W. Aldeya Posted May 1, 2004 #9 Share Posted May 1, 2004 Just adding to all positive posts about Godfrey Tours. We had a blast! The best way to enjoy a day at St.Thomas.
cowtec Posted May 3, 2004 #10 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Another happy Godfrey customer. We toured with him on April 19 and couldn't have asked for a more accomodating and personable guide. It rained off and on that day and, when we got to Coki Beach, it suddenly started to pour. Godfrey was more than happy to take those of us who wanted to go back to the ships to the dock and then went back and picked up the rest of the group. I highly recommend him! theseas4me Posted May 3, 2004 #11 Share Posted May 3, 2004 We are booked with Godfrey in June. Which beach would you recommend? There are 2 adults and 1 12yr old in our party, but we do not care about snorkeling.. Thanks for your input. This will be our first time in St. Thomas, but from the reviews I've read, definately not our last!
delgadofam2002 Posted May 3, 2004 #12 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Hi I also just booked with Godfrey for July. Where did you eat lunch at? The men in my group don't care to shop for 3 hours. They want to be at the Coki snorkeling. They want 3 hours at the beach. Any suggestions? Also if we get p/u at 9am would we each lunch at 11am before Godfrey's noon p/u? I d.k. what to do there will be 3 children in our group of 11.
Bucky3 Posted May 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted May 5, 2004 It seems to me that there are a lot of people wanting to take this tour. Tell me, is there more than ONE GODFREY? How many people can he take on one day? Bucky
syndyj Posted May 5, 2004 #14 Share Posted May 5, 2004 I do not think everyone is doing this tour on the SAME day !! We are booked for September, so I guess it is on a first come first served basis.
dianfarmer Posted May 5, 2004 #15 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Since he takes you shopping first then the island tour and then the beach just wondering what you do with the jewerly purchases at the beach.Since your out with him all day what about lunch? syndyj Posted May 5, 2004 #16 Share Posted May 5, 2004 Good question about the jewelry, I know some people have sai dhe keeps your bags for you. we do not intend to buy jewelry in St. Thomas unless it is a REALLY good deal, and in that event I would make a stop off in town after the tour if the stores will still be open and pick it up then. The tour ends at 4 PM so, you might have enough time to do this. As for lunch, you can either pack a "picnic" from off the ship or patronize a local establishment and have lunch in town or on the beach.

MandyGirl Posted May 11, 2004 #20 Share Posted May 11, 2004 casidy - No, he won't cancel. He'll likely find additional passengers at the cruise docks, or other cruise message boards have probably routed his name around (so you might not be seeing CruiseCritic passengers posting about your specific date). CW1040 Posted May 12, 2004 #21 Share Posted May 12, 2004 Question: How long after you emailed Godfrey did you receive a reply? I am sailing on NOS leaving a week from Saturday and this is the only excursion that I want to go on. Am getting a little worried. Thanks for your help.
