Embark and Away!! RyG's Cruise Blog & Site

Recommended Posts

The CD was Chris Roberts. The best cruise director that I have ever had on Carnival. I have not had very many before so I really can't compare them all.

The Miracle's Entertainment Department was the best out of any ship in fleet that I have sailed. The shows were great and I think on my cruise the Miracle had the best showband.

EXCELLENT! I've always loved "Miracle", but stopped sailing her when my LEAST favorite C.D. was aboard. (Malcolm Burn) Now that he's moved to another ship, I can start sailing "Miracle" again. :D Thanks for the information.

Please note that he (Chris Roberts) was the CD back in June 2013. It looks like John Heald will be the CD for some of the Alaska voyages in 2014.

I understand how it feels to have a bad CD. It makes the cruise less enjoyable.

Here is John Heald's Cruise Director Schedule for the end of the this year and next year:

On the Fun-Times it was listed as Backstage Tour. That was all it said besides the time and Phantom Theatre.

My cruise director offered it on the last full day of the cruise. I think this is up to the cruise director because I have never seen anything like this offered before.

This tour was open to all who wanted to attend. There was no signup at all. The backstage area makes a circular loop and basically the tour was a line that you walked around yourself with crew members to guide you.

I didn't learn any facts that still stand out to me, but I really enjoyed seeing the backstage area.

Thanks for the information, I'll have to look into it on our next cruise.

I am going to have to keep an eye out for that tour. That would be great. We saw back stage on a cirque de soleil show in Vegas and it was amazing.

Keep an eye out in the Fun-Times. This is probably a rarely offered thing. You might also be interested in the Behind the Fun Tour (not free) which takes to multiple other behind the scenes areas.

It is up to your cruise director if this free tour of backstage takes place.

  • 3 weeks later...

Good Evening!

Many of you fellow members may remember a long time ago I shared tips on how to act onboard the cruise ship. A few days ago I decided to write about the incidents and things I witnessed that prompted me to write those tips.

Here is the link to my stories about what I have seen passengers do that irritate me:

http://www.embarkandaway.com/1/post/2014/01/cruise-ship-mischief-the-things-passengers-do-that-irritate-me.html

All of my stories are from my Carnival Cruises, but I have never cruised on any line except Carnival so I don't know how passengers act on other lines.

Have you witnessed some of the same things onboard?

What different things have you witnessed?

I look forward to you sharing your stories on here!

Feel free to share your own stories!

I will be sharing more stories on this thread soon that I did not blog about. I hope someone enjoys these stories and gets a laugh out of the ones that are funny.

Saving chairs at the theater for 15 friends that are busy gambling in the casino until 1 minute until showtime. 1 not so bad but 15?

Dumb question for you...If there is a long line for the buffet...And I want one item in one spot in the middle...If I walk up to that one spot to get that one item is it considered "cutting in line"? Cause they usually put the deserts somewhere in the buffet line and I always wait until I am finished with my meal to decide if I want desert or not but don't want to stand in the Entire buffet line to pick up my piece of cake or whatever

I think you need to suck it up buttercup. Stop looking for what is wrong on your cruises and try to have some fun. I seen your post on how to act on-board, I have had every thing you mentioned happen to me on all the cruises I have been on. No offence the same people you complain about will never see your blog, why because they don't care about anyone else besides them

The answer to the question... This one is hard. Personally I would allow someone to get in front of me for one item or to get silverware. Some people would say differently. I guess it ultimately comes down to the person.

I'm not mad. I just wanted to record memories of these things and thought some people may enjoy reading them. You are completely right that the people who need to see this never will. Those people who do these types of things are the ones who need to read this type of stuff, but never will.

I have to say I did cringe when I read the title of this thread.

I am sure tacky & shocking behavior happens across cruise lines, but there is so much snobbery regarding Carnival on the other cruise boards. I'm not talking about Crystal or Regence, since I don't cruise or read those threads. I'm talking about mainstream lines like Celebrity or HAL. People posting things like "I thought that only happened on Carnival" regarding putting their babies in the pool or hot tub & letting them use it like a toilet.

Likely none have ever cruised Carnival, but they just know it's a drunk tank full of trailer trash - smuggling their Boone's Farm & sitting down to dinner in a wife beater or speedo.

Hey I only done that behavior once. The speedo thing maybe twice but the wife beater only one time...... I can remember of.

My DH and I cruise with my parents. My mother can walk but is in a wheelchair most of the time. I have seen a few people be rude to her (running in front of her, running to the elevator so she can't get in,etc.). It always amazes me how thoughtless some people can be.

I also have seen many many people on our cruises who are very kind to her because she is in a wheelchair (holding the elevator for her, letting her go 1st, etc.). Rude is rude whether you are cruising or somewhere else.

Yep we arrived half hour to 20min before the show and four times people told us they were saving BANKs of seats.

The worst I saw was a couple in the comedy club. They had sofas which would hold two to people on each side with a arm in the middle. They sat one on either side do the arm. Making it impossible to sit unless you were a single.
