$100 charge to drive up to pier?

I have a prepaid tour with tropical discoveries for march 28 and they just emailed me saying that the government was imposing a $100 charge to drive right up to the pier, otherwise people have to go over a walkway to get to a paring lot to meet their drivers.

Has anyone heard about this? I certainly don't intend to pay $100 to avoid a walkway!

The port area is after you leave the pier is a nice area of shops, vendors stalls, some cafes beyond this area are the parking lots. Here are the buses for shiptours, taxis and vans.

it is not a big deal walking there and meeting your private tour guide.

We took a ship tour and it was both a pick up and dropoff in the parking.

We were there in December.

Oophs, this was at Port Quetzal on the Pacific side
