wrigley80 Posted April 3, 2013 Author #351 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Gootcha, yea we'll probably just hang on the ship by ourselves or just walk around again then :) thanks! anyone know how far of a walk it is from the pier to the "90 miles to Cuba" marker? The walk from the pier to the Southernmost Point marker will be about a mile and a half.....it's quite a hike
wrigley80 Posted April 3, 2013 Author #352 Share Posted April 3, 2013 Love your reviews and pictures! I enjoyed seeing the airboat pictures too, we went stopped and spent the day at Coopertown Airboats back in 2011 on our way to the Keys. It was a great way to break up the long car ride from home! Thank-You....the airboat ride through the Everglades was a lot of fun

I LOVE it here. Wouldn't go back up north for anything in the world :) I liked Kissimmee better though, it was a lot more quiet than it is in Orlando

terri-eddie Posted April 3, 2013 #357 Share Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) Was the helicopter ride very expensive? We're looking at such a ride for our next cruise [to Hawaii] and it appears that over-weight people are required to pay for 1.5 seats! So, since both my husband and I are larger than average, we'd be buying three seats for the two of us! By the way do you know for a fact that you would have to buy 3 seats. If it is just the two of you in the helicopter I don't see why you would née to pay for a 3rd seat

I think we'll save helicopter-flying for our next trip to Disney, instead of our cruise to Hawaii. Much more reasonable price!

At $300 per person [regular sized!] that would be $300 each for a seat-and-a-half! Way over our budget! Much more reasonable price! Yeah the helicopter ride over Orlando and Disney was alot of fun. Next time we will definitely do the longer ride. I can't believe that you would be charged price and a half. That's ridiculous. As you can see from my pictures my dad and I are a little husky....hehe. We had plenty of room and it was very easy to get in and out of the helicopter.

We decided on Senor Frogs on International Drive. wrigley80 Posted April 5, 2013 Author #371 Share Posted April 5, 2013 On our final day of vacation we drove to Daytona Beach for the day. It was about an hour and a half drive from our hotel in Orlando to Daytona Beach. We wanted to drive on the beach and go on the Speedway Tour at Daytona International Speedway. We headed down to the beach first but the tide was unusually high because there was a storm out to sea so we just took a few pictures. The lady working the guard shack said that the tide would be down enough to drive on the beach after 1:00 pm All the beach signs were washed away The waves were so powerful. It was nice to just listen to the waves
wrigley80 Posted April 5, 2013 Author #372 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Not quite ready for a day at the beach It was Bike Week in Daytona Beach. There were motorcycles everywhere. It was a pretty cool sight to see We headed back to the Speedway around 11:00 am for the All-Access Speedway Tour. The Speedway Tour started every hour on the hour. It was a 90 minute tour
Kat55cruises Posted April 5, 2013 #373 Share Posted April 5, 2013 This is the Marine Safety and Operations handout that was given to us before the Muster Drill. I am unable to stand for extended periods of time so we were escorted by a crew member to the Library and asked to follow along while the Muster Drill instructions were read aloud on the loud speaker Yes the Mexican Buffet/Deck Party was the fourth night.....I believe. Just keep an eye on the Fun Times for it to be Posted I too am unable to stand for long periods of time. Did you notify Carnival Special Needs prior to sailing or did you just tell them on the day? Thanks, enjoying your review! Going on the 8 day Freedom in October!!

We notified Carnival when we got onboard. I mentioned it at Guest Services. They said when it was time for the muster drill to head to deck 4 and tell them that I require special assistance. They then informed us and directed us to the library where we would be for the muster drill
wrigley80 Posted April 6, 2013 Author #375 Share Posted April 6, 2013 Watching the Carnival Freedom on the Fort Lauderdale makes me really miss the Freedom. Only 240 days until we cruise on the Carnival Sunshine......I don't think I'm gonna be able to wait that long.
