sandravb79 Posted March 27, 2013 #29 Share Posted March 27, 2013 When cruising in Europe, I tip in €. I am not going to my bank just to change a couple of € into $ so that I can tip in $. On the Barcelona-Dubai cruise, I need $ to pay for excursions, so I'll change some more and tip in $

ahecht Posted March 27, 2013 #33 Share Posted March 27, 2013 There are NEVER enough chips with the spinach dip. Don't order room server much so can't remember. Can you order via tv or do you have to call. Thinking I might be able to get more chips if we call and ask or is there anywhere to add "notes" on the tv? When you order from the TV they will call to confirm and ask for any special requests or alcohol orders. I assume the door hanger is a pre order and the TV would be a order placed to be filled at the time placed, or can you pre order at night on the TV for you breakfast in the morning? I guess it makes no difference. I am still excited to learn I can get hot foods delivered to my room for breakfast. Give me some bacon, eggs, hash browns, and coffee and I am all set! Sure beats a cold continetal breakfast. Breakfast through the TV is also a preorder and you must specify a time. Don't expect the food to be hot at breakfast either -- in my experience it was lukewarm at best. However hot beverages did always arrive hot. Irish Cath Posted March 28, 2013 #34 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Ahh wonderful :)I can see that my 18 and 21 year old young people will NEVER make it out of bed for breakfast the whole trip now lol. Maybe ill hide the menu ? Another random question, Im from scotland and sailing in the med in the NOS in June. Ill be using Euros on shore and of course will have £ in my bag but do i need to now go and get $ so i can tip the crew for things like this ? Or could i tip them in euros or £ ? Hi HighlandGirl - we keep 'bumping' into each other here on cruise critic lol. Being fro Ireland we had the same question, we actually asked our cabin attendant what currency he would prefer his extra tip in ( we dont always tip extra e was just very good)and he said dollars. We had some with us at the time but in June we will get some cash in dollars from the casino. We will get some dollar bills to give to room service delivery guy as well

Tink78 Posted March 28, 2013 #36 Share Posted March 28, 2013 How much does the room service breakfast cost? I will probably do this on port mornings. Also could I ask for tea/coffee to be delivered to my cabin every morning and late evening? I love my tea first and last thing! Becky

gerif Posted March 28, 2013 #38 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Can you order any kind of drinks or is it just beer and wine? Any kind of drinks may be ordered. You can get small bills from guest services or the casino so no need to pack so many for tips.
ahecht Posted March 28, 2013 #39 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Can you order any kind of drinks or is it just beer and wine? You can get any drinks. They will pick them up from one of the bars on the ship (in my case they used Boleros).
CruisinMatt Posted March 28, 2013 Author #40 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Thanks all for the room service drinks info. I normally just went to a bar myself and carried drinks back to the cabin.

travelplus Posted March 28, 2013 #42 Share Posted March 28, 2013 Not at all current. The cheese plate does come with crackers. This sounds good. Will be ordering the Spinach Artichoke Dip, Honey Stung Chicken, salads and sandwiches etc. One quick question can they bring lemonade with the iced tea(or have it mixed in) for an Arnold Palmer like I can get at the MDR? I find the plain tea alone a bit bitter for my tastes but with lemonade its just right. Also can I ask for Bircher Muesli at breakfast? momof3hungryboys Posted March 28, 2013 #43 Share Posted March 28, 2013 How flexible is room service about making changes? For instance, could I order the chicken salad with no chicken? Or order the sandwich with no meat and just the cheese and veggies?

I think they will do what ever you like, they are eager to please, if not order what you like, its all included, toss out what you don't want, just enjoy the vacation !! setsail Posted March 30, 2013 #47 Share Posted March 30, 2013 It's easy to make some slight changes in the menu, just call room service direct on your cabin phone. If you are using the breakfast menu you can write it on the order form or call. Please print. If you call be very clear, there could be a slight language barrier.
