motif Posted April 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Thinking ahead to 2014 and beyond, we're planning our next cruise. We're looking to sail from Southampton and were wondering which cruise lines, and which ships, we have to choose from. Unfortunately, we are limited to Summer (end July through to end of Aug). Cheers, m'dears.

I just checked a site which covers cruises generally for your dates -- Cunard, Princess, Celebrity, Oceania, Regent and Royal Caribbean all have sailings from Southampton between June and September 2014 -- various areas: Mediterranean, Scandanavia, British Isles, etc.

jocap Posted April 10, 2013 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2013 I just checked a site which covers cruises generally for your dates -- Cunard, Princess, Celebrity, Oceania, Regent and Royal Caribbean all have sailings from Southampton between June and September 2014 -- various areas: Mediterranean, Scandanavia, British Isles, etc. The most common ships in port, however, are P&O ships; 7 sail from there all summer on many itineraries; next year one ship will be based in the Med. Fred Olsen also uses S'ton, as does Cruise and Maritime and Saga. All 3 Cunard ships homeport there; RCI have increased to 2 ships this year. Rare John Bull Posted April 10, 2013 #7 Share Posted April 10, 2013 Here's the schedule for 2013 It'll give you an idea of the cruise lines & the number of cruises http://www.southamptonvts.co.uk/Live_Information/Shipping_Movements_and_Cruise_Ship_Schedule/Cruise_Ship_Schedule/ Most (all?) are cruises which start from Southampton, but there might be one or two where Southampton is just a mid-cruise port of call. Cruise & Maritime, Voyages of Discovery, some Fred Olsen & other small cruise ships now use the new cruise terminal at Portsmouth. http://www.portsmouth-port.co.uk/cruise/cruise_schedule_2013 For many of those listed, Portsmouth is just a port-of-call. motif Posted April 11, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Thanks Guys! I didn't know that Pompey had a cruise port. The ships that sail from there are probably a little too small for us.:)
jocap Posted April 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted April 11, 2013 Glancing down JB's Southampton site- I'd forgotten this line: MSC have had Opera placed here for the last 2 summers.
