ljones Posted April 18, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 18, 2004 I am planning a cruise to the Cayman Is in Feb. I just read an article ablout a Carnival cruise that could not "land" @ Grand Cayman due to "high water" Has anyone heard of or encountered this? The month in question was also February. brucejr Posted April 18, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 18, 2004 whether you get to go ashore at Grand Cayman or not depends on the weather the day you are there. More so than at the ports where you dock. If it is too windy, then the water will be "high", meaning there will be white caps and it will be too rough to launch the tenders. This can happen any time during the year, but I think probably a bit more frequently in the winter or during hurricane season, July thru November. But know this, one day the Caribbean can look flat as a lake and the next day it it can be windy and look like, well, an ocean. I wouldn't spend any time worrying about it in any case. if there's a way to construe my post as non-argumentative, please do so. Cruise photos on my Home page Spring Break was on the Grand Princess 21, March 2004 So when is the next cruise? w5 Posted April 23, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 23, 2004 Yup, sailing in Dec. I have many more things t worry about before then, than just occupy myself with whether or not we will be able to tender. A great caution, Thanks !
