Cruising for a night owl

I'm a first time cruiser - traveling in September, Carnival Freedom. I'm a bit of a night owl. What is there to do late at night on the ship? What time do things close? Do the televisions in the room have alot of things to view if there's not much on the ship I can go out to do? Just wondering how I'm going to pass those late hours on board.

You have the late night comedy shows, the casino, and nightclub that closes late/early in the morning around 3:00am and later. The televisions show channels from the U.S., and a channel with the previous or current days activities. We're nights owls on vacation, and stay out until the night club closes, then go get pizza on the Lido, and then hit the sack after watching some television. We're back up at 7:00 or so, but take a nap in the evening before dinner.

Yes! I find that the most fun activities are at night! DH and I like to go to the main shows and the late night comedy shows. The club is open really late, as is the casino I'm sure. Room service, pizza and the soft serve ice cream machine are all 24-hours.

I'm a night owl as well. Spend most of my time after the "typical outlets" (casino, bars etc close) out on my balcony. But I also stroll the decks, star gaze and sometimes watch the sunrise. I've had some interesting conversations with folks just sitting out on the decks during the night. (Plus I check on all the teens running around unsupervised:rolleyes:) J/K

If all else fails, you could volunteer to help some of the staff members that are busy cleaning in various areas of the ship. Just think how much fun it would be to mop floors, run the vacuum sweeper, wash windows.... Oh, wait a minute! You're on vacation to get away from all of that. Nevermind!:D

There is one thing that's kind of fun to do. If you've got a balcony, you and your significant other could sit out on your balcony and watch the submarine races. Who knows? It could lead to kissing and hugging and....... (balcony club).:o

There's plenty to do late at night- karaoke, bands in lounges, production shows, comedy shows, piano bar, disco, casino, etc.

For a true night owl - only the disco and casino stay open past 1a.m., besides the pizza, the late night grill at 11:30 and room service.

The production shows end at 10 (except for the Welcome aboard show which ends at about 11:30, piano bars and comedy shows end at 1a.m. (at the latest), karaoke and bands also end early.

There is also TV which has 2 or 3 stations showing movies every 3 hours.

I actually laughed at the title of your post when I first read it as Camp Carnival has a "late owls" program with parties until midnight or 1 am, which I thought you were going to ask about.

Last comedy show is 11:30 pm. On some ships, a pool is open until midnight. There's also the dance club, some bars, and a casino, but there popularity is dependent on the itinerary.

If I remember correctly all most everything is closed by 2am ( it could be 3 but not later than that) .The TV you should have the same things to watch at home if you have basic cable not the 900 channels we have at home to choose from.We usually watch jimmy fallon and by the time that's done so are we :)

I don't know if you have an ipad but maybe load it up with movies, books and games (and the charger) and never be bored

Some of my favorite cruise memories were made at the 24 hour Pizza Pirate after the nightclub closed for the evening. You'd have to experience it to understand it. :D

LOL! I hear you :)

(Now if you have a look at another thread on here there is a certain person who believes a curfew should be implemented because of the issues at the Pizza place post 2am and teens lol!)

Maybe I have just had bad luck, but the two cruises I have been on were really lacking in night life. On my first cruise on the Liberty, the club was closed a few nights for private events and when it was open, no one was in there. Even the casino was pretty empty late at night. The second cruise was a bit better, but still disappointing. I hope third time is a charm!

What do you mean by night owl? Being a night owl to some is staying up til 5 am while to others it may be midnight:)

iow, I'm generally the last person at the party to go to sleep :)

Midnight would be an early bird. Night owls are generally 3-5 am.

3-5 a.m. may be a general rage, but its not unheard of for me to stay up later. Funny thing is, I don't sleep in late the next day, nor do I take a nap. I just generally require less sleep than most folks.

We do have a balcony, so if all else fails, guess I can pour myself a drink and just listen to the ocean - I really do need to relax! :) Heck who knows, I may relax so much that I actually sleep more than I do at home.
