Pia1913 Posted August 5, 2013 #51 Share Posted August 5, 2013 Even if we first have it loaded on our cruise cards, and then get the remaining amount back at the cashier's cage at the end of the cruise? Totally different scenario than just going to the cage to put money on your card. People do that - go to cage and ask for $$$. Then there is a 3% charge. Not the other way. Pia1913 Posted August 5, 2013 #52 Share Posted August 5, 2013 Interesting update re Personalizer: I changed cabins on one of my bookings this morning. While all the other bookings just show a total amount of OBC, this one is now showing a complete itemization per person. I wonder if the others will eventually get changed to the new format. I guess I never knew you could just go to the cage first to get cash...I thought you always had to load it first on your card. You're both correct, no 3% charge if you load money on your cruise card from a slot machine and then cash out. There is however a potential charge because if you don't play a little bit before cashing out, the casino's computer program will flag your account and lock it. You have to see the casino manager to get it unlocked. Of course if you win, that's another story, however unlikely.

I'm such a gambler. Loading the card is a fairly new thing; maybe 3 years or so. I lose track of what happens when. Previously you could just get $$$ from the cage and lots of us would do that to increase our points on whatever card we were using. Then they got smart and started charging. I recall paying a 3% surcharge to take OBC out in 2005, because that's the only way I was going to get it. It was cheap enough to get "found money." Then again in 2009; same ship. Pacific Princess. Subsequently the little ships redid their slot systems too.

iceleven Posted August 5, 2013 #59 Share Posted August 5, 2013 That would be correct since you can't apply for it until around that time. Mike:) There is still no guarantee that one's credit will be applied even when applied within their "window." There have been numerous criticisms of Princess' lack of follow-through with the Shareholder OBC. Fortunately, because of this thread, I asked my husband to check to see if all of our OBCs were itemized and we found that it was missing. Our cruise is this week, we submitted all the proper paperwork a month ago to the correct fax address. We called Princess yesterday, (Sunday) and spoke with a very nice gentleman who admitted he could do nothing for us because it was a different department that deals with it and they only work Monday to Friday. He admitted that this happens all too frequently and understood our frustration. So AGAIN, today, we have to resubmit all of the paperwork. This is a thorn in the side of many people who have to apply for their Shareholder OBC every time they cruise. I totally understand the need to submit current account information but I cannot understand why there is always such an effort to make sure it is applied to the account? It's so very frustrating. bhopal21 Posted August 5, 2013 #60 Share Posted August 5, 2013 No there is no guarantee; but if one applies for the credit too early it will simply be ignored. It is important to bring along the acknowledgement from Princess saying that it has been granted along with like correspondence from one's travel agent. Personally I have never had any problem with the credit not being applied; but it is prudent to take along your confirmation. Mike:)

Personally I have never had any problem with the credit not being applied; but it is prudent to take along your confirmation. Mike:) But why must one always have to ask for a confirmation? We have only used our Shareholder OBC twice thus far and each time sending in the proper current documentation, at the appropriate time, and never received a confirmation. We crossed our fingers and hoped it would show up when we arrived on board. After following all of the guidelines to obtain our OBC for our upcoming cruise, we decided to call to verify and they claim they had not processed it. They didn't say we submitted it incorrectly, they simply claimed they didn't process it. They are terribly unorganized. Some are lucky; others aren't.
bhopal21 Posted August 5, 2013 #62 Share Posted August 5, 2013 But why must one always have to ask for a confirmation? I must be extremely lucky as I have never had to ask for confirmation. As a matter of fact when I faxed in the form a couple of months ago for our cruise in two weeks I had an email confirmation within 45 minutes from Princess.:) I know this was extraordinary as it has never happened that fast before; but I have not had to ask for a confirmation email. DMRick Posted August 6, 2013 #65 Share Posted August 6, 2013 I booked with a travel agent on Princess. I snail mailed my shareholder info in on July 30th and got an email notification on Sunday, Aug 4th. However, it doesn't show up on my personalizer for Princess..it does for Carnival, which I booked direct.
iceleven Posted August 6, 2013 #66 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Well, we finally got our confirmation but not until after having to submit it a second time. I understand some people luck out and others don't. I think the next time we are just going to snail mail it and see if we are more successful. So far we are 0 for 3. :(

Pia, From what I can tell, yours is a perfect example confirming what they told me.... See my earlier post below. Regards, Mark Thanks to the OP for posting this new discovery. I was talking to Princess on an unrelated topic earlier and happened to mention that it was nice that they added the OBC Tab. She mentioned that it was brand new as has been posted about earlier, and that eventually it will show the breakdown as opposed to the lump sum display. I guess that it depends on if your cruise record is accessed and updated by Princess. This is why some people see the breakdown and others don't. Sandy R Posted August 6, 2013 #68 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Just looked at my Personalizer for upcoming cruise. It is itemized. One of our credits is... Sales Promo $100. Is that from our FCC's?
Eagle Eye Posted August 6, 2013 #69 Share Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks ! All our OBC's, including Shareholder's, are listed separately :) Hopefully this will reduce the number of phone calls/emails to Princess to verify OBCs.

Pia1913 Posted August 7, 2013 #71 Share Posted August 7, 2013 UPDATE: Just checked our next cruise and today the shareholder credit has been added and each line has been itemized. No more lumping together. What is interesting though, I submitted for both cruises (B2B Royal) at the same time on the same form and the 2nd one hasn't been done yet. They must be working on things as we speak.

jackieo Posted August 7, 2013 #74 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Me too! Drat - i have just applied for my shareholder credit and thought how easy it would be to see if it was credited. I could see them before. Now there is no tab for me to click on. Very odd. Although nothing surprises me with this database. That's why I always take a print of the screen Lol. Pia1913 Posted August 7, 2013 #75 Share Posted August 7, 2013 Yes, the tab has disappeared from all my bookings. At least I printed the one referred to above when I saw it. Fear not. I'm sure they will straighten out their software problem. Eventually. ;)
