Always Cruising Posted August 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Trying to set up an early dinner when the Gem is at Port Canaveral - are there restaurants we could walk to from the dock? I looked at the "Ports" board, and it doesn't seem well visited...so posting here (at least as a start). Thanks in advance....

Beaver1975 Posted August 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted August 29, 2013 No, but there are nice ones along the south side of the channel where the ships sail in and out. They would be a a very short taxi ride or an extremely long walk. :D
ibcnusoon Posted August 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted August 29, 2013 We are meeting our daughter for drinks before we reboard in Port Canaveral (after we drop off the rental car after visiting relatives about an hour away). Can someone suggest a good inexpensive fun place for drinks/appys close to the ship
Coastalbreezes Posted August 29, 2013 #5 Share Posted August 29, 2013 We bought a pass (maybe it was $6?) right off the ship that got us a ride to and from the Cove area and we had a great lunch and drinks at Milliken's Reef. I honestly can't remember what we paid for the ride but it was inexpensive enough and Milliken's was only a short walk from the dropoff area. Host Star Posted August 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Check out fish lips. Close but not walking distance
Beaver1975 Posted August 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Grills is also a great place but tends to get very crowded as it is right next to a large marina.
Always Cruising Posted August 29, 2013 Author #8 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Thanks everyone - good ideas. At least I know what to expect - so Fishlips and Grill look good - and a taxi or shuttle to get there. Cruise Critic people are always here to help. jjikids Posted August 29, 2013 #9 Share Posted August 29, 2013 Do taxis wait at the port or we have to order the taxi ahead of time?
agargoyle Posted August 31, 2013 #10 Share Posted August 31, 2013 We have been done the NCL cruise - Port Canaveral, private island, Nassau about 6 times. The ships arrive mid=morning. We usually have a quiet lunch and leave the ship and walk out to the parking lot. Lots of taxis of all sizes waiting for customers. If we get a driver that is agreeable we get his cell number and call him when we are ready to be picked up. If he does not have a fare he will show up. If he can't make it we just call the company. I was looking for the name and number of the cabbie from our last cruise because he went well beyond his normal duties. The is one person there that directs the people to the cabs. I believe there are buses also. Hope this helps.
