Which is the best river cruise line?

Hi all,

We're thinking of doing a European river cruise in 2014 but can't decide which company to go with. It seems like each gets their share of both good and bad reviews. So, looking for opinions on which is the top line, ie: Viking vs Scenic vs Avalon etc.

Probably the "best" river cruise line is Tauck. Following Tauck is a cluster of lines, each having its own proponents. For the most part, they have many similarities and provide comparable itineraries and services.

 

As a caveat, I would advise to beware of "2 for 1" advertising, when it is never not "2 for 1."

 

FWIW, I done several river cruises, been wonderfully happy with each one, but have yet to sail on Tauck. I know Tauck is better than the rest the same way I know that the George V is better than the Hilton in Paris (without having stayed there.)

I would ask about this on the River Cruise Board as suggested earlier and I would also reads review.

 

Remember there is usually not one best of anything.
