In particular can one get decent Toast in the morning

Recommended Posts

Good toast no, Heck for that matter no good bread on any ship we've sailed on most of it is hard as a rock.

Funny that the cruiselines can all bake fabulous fresh bread in their kitchens, yet buy stale pre-packaged sliced bread to serve for breakfast.

There are no butlers on RCI. The Concierge will definitely not handle any food for you. S/he will have no "in-room duties" for you. The Concierge duties are to help you with requests from his/her desk and of course s/he runs the lounge, but again usually will not serve you in there. Room Service always is delivered from the galley and there´s no difference between Suites and regular rooms other than suites can order some additional items and don´t have to pay the late night fee.

While I agree a slice of toast shouldn´t be hard my experience it is hard (pun intended) and dry on ships.

I´ve never seen a self serve toaster on any ship.

From your posts, it sounds like you have a vastly wrong expection of the Suite Service on RCI ships. To avoid dissappointment I recommend you inform yourself a bit about Suite Service on RCI.

Well I tried to but everything is a bit vague on RCCL sites

Never had trouble else where

And I know what a Conceirge is .

But somewhere on the RCCL webpage / blog cruise critic there was

mention of a butler ???

The last thing I really want , and was one of the reasons I gave

Seabourne / Oceania / Silverseas the flick.

Just want a decent breakfast in my Suite .

I´d be pretty surprised if RCI mentioned butlers on their Website. For some random Information on CC I can´t vouch though.

If you think the Information on the Website is vague - well be Aware that this is what you get in Terms of Suite perks. Don´t expect more than the "vague" as you call it.

We have spent far more then 3 years as cruise ship passengers on more then 65 different vessels. The one thing all ships have in common (including the luxury lines) is that you can never get a decent piece of toast :) We have also never had a decent bagel on any cruise ship.

Hank

Thanks Hank . You are of course right in this matter and it also goes

for nearly all hotels . Luckily some these days do have a toaster

It was nearly all down hill after your post

Allowing that you have cruised so much , I wont ask for your

opinion on this forum but I have noticed it soon degenerates

into piffle on any subject.

Thanks . I was afraid of that.

I don't require much in life but Fried eggs ,Bacon and a couple of Pork Snags

on decent toast is hardly a lot to ask for occasionally .

I suppose it would be too hard for the concierge / butler person to cook a couple of slices .

Especially if you want to wash it down with a good glass of iced tea.:)

In particular can one get decent Toast in the morning .

You've hit on the one thing that irks me about all cruise ships. Cold hard crusty bread called toast. Its not toast. What I do when I'm in the buffet is grab a couple pieces of "toast" and hand it back to the guy on the toast station and ask him to run it through the toaster again. They often will say "its already been tasted sir". I just nod and say "run 'er through again though anyway".

Used to be that you picked out your bread or bagel or whatever and handed it to the toast guy and he toasted it for you on the spot. Not anymore though.

all the Lounges( concierge and Diamond) have toasters.

the cranberry bread , lightly toasted and smothered in butter is sublime...

Oops, I forgot about those. The only time we eat breakfast there is on the Oasis.:o
