poofersgrl Posted October 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2013 my husband doesn't drink, (except soda etc) and I do. I would like to get this for our upcoming cruise, but to have to pay for 2 when 1 doesn't drink, is ridiculous. Why do both have to buy? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks Kelly
caribsun Posted October 10, 2013 #2 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Why, because some people would buy drinks for the person who did not pay.

Gunner22aa Posted October 10, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 10, 2013 You may be honest but there are many who have gone befor you and many more who will follow who are not. I don't know of any lines that don't insist that all passangers over 21 in a cabin be on the plan.
Rare LHT28 Posted October 10, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 10, 2013 Try a different cruise line ;) It would be better just to pay as you go if you have to pay for both people in the cabin

One can have the package and the other not.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 11, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2013 The answers provided as to why you need to purchase two versus one drink card are correct. Keith
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 11, 2013 #8 Share Posted October 11, 2013 As an example why some cruise lines require that all persons in the cabin over 21 must buy the drink packages -- years ago HAL had an unlimited soda package -- we watched as a family took turns passing the card from one to the next one and getting way more sodas than what HAL had intended when they began the program. HAL had assumed that each person in the cabin would buy their own card -- didn't happen. It only takes a few people to ruin a program. The drink packages don't work for us -- so we just buy our drinks as we want them.
