Gratuities. Prepayment Question

Hi!

It's been 5 years since I have cruised on Royal....I had my time dining & the gratuities were to be prepaid with the final payment....but a 6pm dinner slot opened so we were able to switch. My question is I noticed on the statement that it now said I would be charged $12 per person per day for gratuities....is this new? Last time we cruised we put cash in envelopes for the last night.

 

I am thinking if that's the case I would rather just prepay them to get the royal points as I am cashing them out for the cruise....Thanks in advance:)

Yes...it's new. It takes care of everyone who is supposed to get tipped, except for room service. You can certainly pre-pay...just don't forget that you HAVE paid already!

Royal went to automatic gratuities this past March. You can still visit Guest Services during the cruise and have them remove the automatic charges if you like.

relatively new within the last several months. its the same amount as pre paying just broken down to daily amounts and you can use OBC to cover.

 

in fact a month ago on our GR cruise there weren't envelopes at all
