Australian family Posted October 20, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 20, 2013 Saw the Volendam on TV last night at the overseas passengers terminal in Sydney opposite the Opera House, which celebrated its 40th Birthday yesterday. The passengers on the Volendam would have got a great view of the celebrations. http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/sydney-opera-house-celebrates-40th-birthday-with-huge-party/story-fni0cx12-1226743395435 http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-20/40-years-of-the-sydney-opera-house/5025816

Lauranne Posted October 20, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 20, 2013 Wonderful history of the Sydney Opera House. Thanks for sharing. I someday hope to cruise to the Port of Sydney in a HAL ship.
RJ2002 Posted October 20, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 20, 2013 Thanks for sharing. This brought back fond memories of our cruise on the Oosterdam last year. When we boarded her at the OPT, our cabin was located on the side of the ship that was facing the opera house. What a view! We toured the opera house, and it was very interesting. Well worth the admission price. Sydney is such a great city, and the harbor is just beautiful.
Krazy Kruizers Posted October 20, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 20, 2013 Thank you for the links. If Joe hadn't had a heart attack back in 2000, we would have sailed there (on Princess). Now I just look at all those wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing them.

Wow, I saw her in 1977 when she was a mere baby then. Gorgeous piece of architecture that put Sydney on the map, just as intended. No harbor as lovely as Sydney, and where we also discovered our new sailaway treat, the Tropa-Mango-Mojito in the Crows Nest bar.

Now I just look at all those wonderful pictures. Thank you for sharing them. That is no good. I hope your husband is okay now. Maybe one day you will be able to cruise to Australia.
