Texas_Diver Posted October 22, 2013 #1 Share Posted October 22, 2013 We just booked on the Carnival Magic for Dec 28, 2014. The itinerary hits Key West, Nassau and Freeport. In looking at the available shore excursions, I don't see any scuba diving! Does Carnival not offer any diving in Freeport and Nassua? D.
Texas_Diver Posted October 22, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted October 22, 2013 Correction: I see that Carnival does offer diving in Freeport. But I'm still not seeing any diving offered in Nassau. D.

Lefty Writer Posted October 22, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 22, 2013 We try to avoid booking through the ship whenever possible and going with a local dive op. We've had lots of good luck (and diving) that way, and no cattle boats.
saratraylor Posted October 23, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 23, 2013 I have done the shark dive with Stuart Cove's in Nassau (while in port on NCL cruise) and they were FANTASTIC. I would highly recommend them.
Texas_Diver Posted October 24, 2013 Author #6 Share Posted October 24, 2013 I have done the shark dive with Stuart Cove's in Nassau (while in port on NCL cruise) and they were FANTASTIC. I would highly recommend them. Did you book the shark dive through Carnival or directly through Stuart Cove? D.
saratraylor Posted October 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted October 29, 2013 I booked directly through Norweigan Cruise Line, as I was on a NCL cruise, but I see from their website that you can book directly through Stuart Cove.

beargrass1 Posted October 31, 2013 #9 Share Posted October 31, 2013 It looks like you will be in Nassau from 7 AM-5PM. This will let you make the 7:45am pickup for Stuarts Cove and get in a two tank dive. and return to the ship around about 2:00 PM. I think that the shark dive is only done in the afternoon so I don't think you will be able to do that dive.
divinmule Posted November 24, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 24, 2013 Sad to see that they still can't come to terms with one of the dive shops there. I had asked JH about it and he said "they are working on It"...guess they are not working hard enough. I feel very comfortable using the island operators when there is adequate port time but for this trip I think we can just barely make it to Bahama Divers for their am dive on our Feb cruise... just scares me cutting things so close.:( I keep hoping carnival will get their act together on this. Colorado Kat Posted November 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I dove with Stuart Cove's and had a great day. I just did a regular 2 tank dive, instead of the shark dive. (I've dove with sharks many times). They do a great job with pickup/dropoff.
BigRed93 Posted December 1, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 1, 2013 (edited) we booked with Stuarts Cove in Nassau. We were there for 11 am, so we got a 2 tank afternoon dive in, and we didn't do the shark dives, but we still had several sharks swimming with us. :D It was great. In Freeport we used unexsco thru the ship. Sorry, that was while on Carnival. Edited December 1, 2013 by BigRed93

My advice...hound Carnival about it. The more noise that we make the more likely they are to get an operator lined up. Best two options for now seem to be Bahama Divers or Stuart Cove depending upon your port times.
