arush5268d Posted November 24, 2013 #201 Share Posted November 24, 2013 You should rename this review 'Lambies Great Quest to find the Sunrise' I wonder how long it took to make all those towel animals.... Some of them are amazing and they put a lot of effort into that. I love that they have one floating on the water.
LambKnuckles Posted November 26, 2013 Author #202 Share Posted November 26, 2013 Now that we've seen the "Zoo of towel animals" let's head on to breakfast! It's Cozumel, today, and Nana and I want to debark and do some shopping! We decide to eat in the Lido Marketplace, since Nana sees Eggs Benedict on the menu!! There's not quite as 'saucy' as down in the MDR -- but sitting up on Lido, we can watch Cozumel and mainland Mexico go by as we find our dock! LambKnuckles Posted November 26, 2013 Author #203 Share Posted November 26, 2013 She's says I've been taking lots of photos... and "Maybe too many..." But in this one you can see Cozumel in the background! And even some more... We dock right next to the CONQUEST. That's a ship I know very well!!! I've sailed on her many times!! I love the smaller ships, like the Elation, Ecstasy, and Fantasy -- but the Conquest's décor, the Impressionist influence in her décor is wonderful. Nana and I get ready to head ashore. Cozumel seems to be a port "every ship" comes to!!! And today is no different. It will be busy in the shops, but we're on a search for some souvenirs. A blanket or serape, some tequila, and many some new Christmas ornaments. I always stop at Diamonds International to look at their Emeralds. It's my birthstone and we'll look at amethysts too, for Nana. Getting to shore, with Nana's wheelchair, is a bit of a chore. The first part is finding an elevator that will fit us. We decided to push both up and down and we'll just get on the next one that's empty. (Sometimes that's the easiest way to get anywhere, when everyone is trying to use the forward elevators.) Finally getting to Deck 0 -- we merge into a line and head to the gangway. At each and every port, you need your Sign and Sail card to debark. It records who left, so they can be sure who's embarked when you get back on. Once on the gangway, the maneuvering to get an electric wheelchair to make the ramp can also be tricky. But the officers and crew are always there to help. Nana and I make it ashore and we head down the pier to the stores, with a quick stop for the photograph under the ship's name. It's not too hot today-- but the humidity makes up for that! As we make our way down the pier, we near the shop to walk through. A Duty Free shop that forces all walking traffic inside. We've been here before and know that the traffic of people and shelves and things, make this a slow and worrisome wander. So I see the guard at the sidewalk side of the store, where "Crew Only" can walk and approach him asking if we may go this way, since her chair is "hard to turn." He ushers us through and we're in the port!! We peek a few of the stores that are less busy, and some I leave Nana outside in the shade, while I run in and look. I found some things and we head over to the jewelry store. Go into any jewelry store and the employees latch onto you, if you show nay interest at all. So, we try to just quickly look into the cases and find the green stones and the purple stones. I don't see anything that says, "You must buy me..." and we're off to more shopping! In one jewelry store, we didn't do very well. I showed some interest in a piece and asked about it's price. They had me... It took 20 minutes and finally -- "Let me think about it" before we could leave. I know, I could have been forceful or rude and just said no... but it's amazing how much bargaining they're ready to do. On one necklace, they came down from $3480 to $1099. And when I decided we needed "to leave to meet with some friends at Pancho's" it became $849, if we also bought a ring Nana had been looking at for $780. "We'll think about it as we have lunch with friends..." And off we went to Pancho's. But by this time -- and knowing we had NOT pre-arranged to meet anyone at Pancho's, we keep walking around to the beach area, and stop in the shade. I walked back to the Pharmacy to get Nana a diet Pepsi and we just relax and look at the ships... and pose for a self-taken-photo...
LambKnuckles Posted November 26, 2013 Author #204 Share Posted November 26, 2013 We're beginning to feel soggy, and feel it's time to back to a/c on the ship. And maybe a few more times down the slide for me!!! We stop for more photos on the way back... We get the the gangway, and here's where they xray your bags. I bought some tequila, and they see it in my bag, so it's off to the table to register it by name and cabin #, and a promise and receipt that it will be returned to me on Saturday evening, in time to pack into my suitcase. It is a very swift and easy process, actually. On the way up, we stop at deck 5, and peek in from the top, at the Showtime Lounge. We heard some music, and found the back practicing... Then on up to Deck 10... and home again... Ahhhhh... the cabin looks great as we open the door!!
LambKnuckles Posted November 26, 2013 Author #205 Share Posted November 26, 2013 I leave Nana to rest and cool off, and I head outside to take a couple rides down the slide!!! I don't have a good waterproof camera, yet, so I have no photos of me going down or in the slide... But I promise you, it's a BLAST!!! The water is refreshing and the dizziness and speed are great! I think I like the Twister one more, just because it seems longer, but I'll take either one, anytime!!! For lunch, it's Ruben Sandwiches, of course, and standing in line to get french fries and potato salad. And of course, so of the yummy Greek Farmer's Salad, too!!! Carrying it all back to the cabin is difficult, so today, I brought Nana's other wheelchair, the push chair. We have to bring both, since her electric chair has to be recharged each night -- or every other night, depending on how much "walking" she did in it! The push chair is so she can make it to the bathroom or "wander" around the room and look out the front window. The chair seems to be perfect for all my 'gatherings.' Carnival used to have trays, and you could fit a couple plates and glasses on them... but they are no more. They have these oval platter/plates and I use one as a tray for four ice teas... and two as a "clam shell" with French fries and potato salad. and two more "clam shell" for two Rubens, and a bowl on top, for the salad. I do get a few 'looks' but you know, I'm on vacation -- and it's easy, and it's OK with me!!! Back in the cabin, we enjoy lunch and watching a movie on TV. Just relaxing in the a/c. Nana falls asleep -- so I go back out and take some photos... Here's the WaterWorks -- or the slide on the Conquest... Here's our slides in the Magic... And then some random shots... Deck 11 mid-ship. The pier between the ships... The forward 'tie-ups'...
