Hello

So everywhere on the board with regards to transport from Fort Lauderdale to Port Canaveral states to drive, however I am wanting advice with regards to a shuttle or a private transport service.

My cruise departs 21st December 2013 from Port Canaveral, however I will be planing on being in Fort Lauderdale until the morning of the 21st.

Can anyone suggest any services that will get me to Port Canaveral?

Thanks

You realize it is roughly a 3 hour drive? I'm sure you can find a hire car but it is gonna be $$. There is bus service but it would take a full day ... or at least a half and if you are going to not depart FL until the morning of your cruise out of the question IMO.

As mentioned, a one way rental is you best bet but even that if you figure in p/up the car, drive north, drop car and shuttle to ship ... 4 to 4 1/2 hours IMO.

looking the the FtL airport ground transportation page

it only covers as far north at Palm Beach airport ...approx. 1/3 of the way ... a hire car is $110.

You could contact some Lauderdale limo companies directly for a quote.

http://www.go-airportshuttle.com/ .. altho their web site does not mention going north the Brevard County .. but you could ASK.

Driving is not an option with the rental vehicle due to my age, and that I am an Australian, the costs for myself are crazy for rental hire hence why I have asked for advice with regards to shuttle services

Has anyone used or have any views of these companies?

As driving seems to not be an option your choices are very, very limited. I would not suggest waiting until the morning of your cruise to try and get to Port Canaveral from Ft. Lauderdale. You need to get to Port Canaveral the day before your cruise due to your limited transportation options.

If there is a shuttle company that would do this it will be expensive as will hiring a limo company. The drive will be 3 to 4 hours depending on traffic conditions.

Your other options would involve flying to Orlando, taking an Amtrak train to Orlando, or taking a bus. Each of those options are probably also going to involve a shuttle service from Orlando to Port Canaveral.

You could also fly from FLL to MLB (Melbourne Florida) which is the closest airport to Port Canaveral and maybe save some time and/or money instead of shuttling from Orlando. Whatever you decide to do, listen to some of the others here and do not try and get to the port on the day of your cruise!!

I found this; http://www.airportmiamishuttle.com/port-canaveral-transportation.html#http://www.floridashuttletransportation.com/airport-seaport-transfer-private-reservation.html

I did a dummy booking and if you were to be the sole passenger it would be $380+ for a trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Port C. The way I read it was up to 5 people could go for that price.

Don't know anything about them......

I don't think there are any airlines with non stop flights from FLL to MLB. So even though MLB is slightly closer to Port Canaveral the OP would probably have to fly to a hub airport and make a connection to get to MLB.

I did a search for flights FLL-MLB on the 21st of December. All flights require a connection with a change of planes and most of them require 2 connections. There were only 3 flights that would get the OP to MLB by 2:30pm and then there would be the travel time from MLB to Port Canaveral, OP would likely not make the cruise. The one way fares ranged from $491 up to over $1000.

There are a few non stop choices for FLL-MCO. Spirit Airlines has a 7:45am flight that gets to MCO at 8:44am for $44. You just have to remember that Spirit has lots of extra fees for checked luggage, carry on luggage, and picking certain seats.

I don't see any issue with the Florida Express bus working in this situation. It's cheap and they do regular runs so they're going to know the traffic patterns. Looks like it drops off in Cocoa Beach at McDonald's so OP would have to take a taxi to the port but that's easily doable. We were considering the same thing for March but with 4 people, it is cheaper to rent a car which is what we're doing.

Greyhound, Amtrak, and Spirit go from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, and then you can get a shuttle or taxi or driver from there. Your choices are very limited because of same day travel so I would suggest Spirit as the people did above.
