An earlier thread today started me checking out this machine. I found some interesting facts.

While CC is supposed to be happy and positive, I`m compelled to shout out a WARNING that the odds of winning at this:

Are VERY SLIM to None:

The Sega Key Master game is rigged. Paul Hull posted the manual on Google+ that, if you take a few minutes to read and understand, makes it very clear how the system is set up for you to fail.

There are two key settings on this machine that determine how the game is rigged. The first is called "compulsory upper deviation." The default setting is 1.6 mm. I believe this means that the key will purposefully go anywhere between 1.6mm higher and 1.6 mm lower than where you tell it to go.

The second setting is called "Payout rate," a unique value for each line of prizes. The default value here is 1 prize/700 credits. This means that the machine is set to ensure only 1/700 plays is a winner.

You have at BEST 1 in 700 chances of winning the 1st, 2nd or 3rd rows

Look at the machines control panel settings:

It is true, you can to the manufactures website and read all about the pay out rate and other things about the machine. If you did not think it was a fixed payout machine you don't need to be in a Casino. Casinos don't put games in that are not a guarantied pay outs. By the way the cash cube is the same way if you did not know it!

This! I mean come on, you aren't possibly winning a $1 stuffed animal. Its going to be more than skill or people would walk away with everything! Nothing like that is an easy game of skill or it would not be in the casino.

I am not really sure why this shocks so many.

I give up!

I was trying to advise all, that this is not a game of skill, but a rigged machine that has calculated pay-outs.

If you watch the players...they are leaning left or right, up & down...really trying to line the key up to the hole. To me, they are believing in skill and patience.

Thought I was helping my fellow cruzers $$$ by exposing this scam.

Don't give up ! If you reach out to one person that saves money because of your well thought out post, you therefore have done your good deed for the day !

I'm wondering, At the beginning of the cruise, the machine is completely full. As the cruise sails on, the machine starts to empty out a bit. Does someone actually win, where you see an empty spot? Or does a casino employee maybe empty a slot or 2, after closing? To make people believe that, YES, people ARE winning? Just my thoughts. But, I have actually witnessed 1 or 2 people beating the machine. I have also seen people pour a lot of money into one, and win Nothing.

I appreciate the information, as I'm sure many do, but the blatant sensationalism in the title is a little off-putting. People can and do win these games, but as stated, the odds are stacked in the house's favor.

Back in February of this year on the Breeze we watched a young guy win twice (he won a total of 3 times within about an hour). He said he put in about $90 and won $1250. He was not 21 yet, so he could not play in the casino.

This game is listed as a game of skill and stays open all the time. You do not have to be 21 to play it.

The title of your post said "you CAN'T win" which is not true. I think anyone who has played it knows its more than skill. I've played it and liked it. Would have liked it more if I won. :D

1) I am sure glad you started a new thread on this, instead of contributing to the thread that was already active. That would have been confusing!

2) I'm not sure why you are surprised that this game is set to benefit the house - not the player. Isn't everything in the casino set up that way?

I saw a gentleman win on this game on the Paradise last November the first evening of our cruise. I played it and came really close but the timer was running out and I let it go a little too soon. When I go to a casino, the money I use to play I consider it gone already for "entertainment", if I win then it's all the better but I know the house always has the advantage

thanks for the posting...it's just like the crane games...most of them are set up to never allow you to win that .25 cent stuffed animal until XXX amount of dollars have been spent. Then...and only then...will that little crane grab your stuffy tight enough to actually make it to the drop zone.

I think the problem some have with this machine is that it is presented as 'skill' based when it actually IS NOT. It is programmed just like a slot machine, to pay out a certain percentage.

Most people of average intelligence know a slot machine is not 'skill' based, it's just random luck. Many who know that believe this machine is skill based. I think it's dishonest the way it is presented, but cruise lines will do anything to make a buck.
