tigercat Posted November 16, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I thought that I heard that there was one Island that was doing some repairs and won't guarantee docking times. Has anyone else heard this and what Island is it if you have. tigercat

GreytRacer Posted November 16, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Carnival will not be going to Tortola next year. Is that what you're referring to?

barante Posted November 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I have been to Tortola three times. Forgettable. But then maybe I did everything wrong by not taking organized tours.
Crusin Karen Posted November 16, 2013 #9 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I just read a really LONG and AWESOME review of Sunshine in the Med. It is my DREAM to do this. Know I will never do it in this lifetime, but I can hope and continue playing my "lucky numbers" in powerball :confused::rolleyes::o...some of the posters mentioned how upset they were CCL was not doing Med. cruises anymore. Does anyone know why?
Crusin Karen Posted November 16, 2013 #10 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Ooops...my bad. I just reread and it's supposed to be Caribbean ports of call. Sorry!! :o:o:o:o:o:o
tigercat Posted November 16, 2013 Author #11 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Thanks so Tortola it is. Cruisin Karen I think it was because the plane fare to get there was getting too much. I know that we did the Legend in Sept. to Norway and the cruise cost less than the plane fare to get there. Thank goodness we had some air points that covered one persons fare made it not too bad. tigercat

We cruise from Manhattan exclusively because we are 20minutes doorstep to cruise terminal and I don't know anything about air fares. Would LOVE to cruise from another port, but just not "economically able" and so I cannot even IMAGINE flying overseas. :(:(
tigercat Posted November 16, 2013 Author #13 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Wow you are so lucky. I have looked at cruises out of NY. I would still have to fly there though as I live in Ontario Canada. tigercat

mdwcruises Posted November 16, 2013 #17 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Yep, it's Tortola. BUT royal does a couple itineraries with Dominica as a stop. That's right. Legend of the seas and NCL Sun both call Dominica. I am planning on going on one of them and Dominica is big part of the plan.

KPfromCT Posted November 16, 2013 #19 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We went to Tortola on the Breeze, this past April, and LOVED it. Took a speedboat over to Jost Van Dyke, and spent the day drinking Painkillers.:eek: Gorgeous island. Glad I got to see it, before they pulled it. Hopefully it will be back.:D
Securityman Posted November 16, 2013 #20 Share Posted November 16, 2013 IMO they should get rid of La Romana D.R. one of the WORST places to visit
Mrs.C05 Posted November 16, 2013 #21 Share Posted November 16, 2013 We LOVED, LOVED Tortola!!! Really wish they weren't getting rid of it. :( We can do without Dominica...although it was a colorful place, we didn't have any "wow" moments.
LWiening Posted November 16, 2013 #22 Share Posted November 16, 2013 Not to thrilled with Tortola. We actually went there by ferry from St Thomas when we stayed in St Thomas for 4 days. We swam with the dolphins saw the cruise port and the whole island. Just not one of my favorite islands . Seen it done it. But we all have our own islands that make us happy. CruiseHealing Posted November 17, 2013 #24 Share Posted November 17, 2013 (edited) On our upcoming April 19th cruise on the Sunshine we spend the day at Tortola. The may be the last Sunshine will dock there until all of the port issues are finalized. Edited November 17, 2013 by CruiseHealing
dbrucern Posted November 17, 2013 #25 Share Posted November 17, 2013 IMO they should get rid of La Romana D.R. one of the WORST places to visit Completely disagree, loved this port booked a all-inclusive for the day and had a wonderful time, went on a second time to this port with a group of newbee's and again booked an all-inclusive for the day and they loved it. Keep La Romana and get rid of Nassau
