and this follows right along with the facts I listed above and supports taking DCL cruise is like shopping at Macy's and Sacks and taking a carnival cruise is like shopping at Wal mart and K mart. You get what you pay for.

In cruising on Carnival's newer ships, I got a whole lot more for my buck than I would have on DCL.

Their Magic has features Disney SHOULD copy, and the people I saw were no different than any I've seen on Disney. Maybe just smarter with their investments.

I get sick of the "Macy's/KMart" comparison, as if anyone who would cruise on Carnival is a low class, poor, second hand citizen. Because you're talking about ME....and I am none of the above.

I'm an upper class, college educated business owner who is financially savvy, but not snooty.

I like to travel. I have enjoyed being in the Walt & Roy, but also in lower categories. I don't need Mickey Mouse to make me happy, just polite, friendly service and a clean room, and I've not been disappointed very often. But when and if I have been, it's been more so on Disney, because of the hype. People like to make it sound as if their cruises are perfect.....but that's not true, and it's an impossible standard to live up to.

He said MARKETS....which is not the same. It's like I said above....it's hype.

Does BMW have fancy ads geared toward the rich and beautiful? Yes.

But am I just as happy in my Hyundai Santa Fe as I would be in a BMW SUV? Yes. Did I save money? YES YES AND YES. Did I get the best warranty out there? YES. And it's a quality vehicle.

Only a snob with something to try to prove to the world would insist on spending that much more just because they think it's a status symbol.

Sorry Daisy, I suggest you o over to the Carnival board, their story is very much different and most are really upset with the degrading of amenities on all the ships. Even the Big Carnival fans admit things have gone down hill, but they are happy because the price is cheap

and this is means what, your opinion?. I have presented facts.

PLEASE don't put your words and misstatements of my posts in your answers. I never made a comment about the class of People, I am sure there are many great people on Carnival, and I resent you saying I did! I only said that by cruising with Carnival, they are shopping for cheap products/cruise as found in cheap/ cut price stores

Happy to hear it, so please be polite and don't call me snooty!

Your opinion...fine, many other opinions, as demonstrated and proved by the market place willingness to pay more for the much better Disney product.

My facts and statements still stand.. If your happy cruising with a carnival., fine, you get what you pay for.

HYPE?....Disney has 70 + years of delivering the best entertainment and products . They don't need the hype, the world knows they pay more for Disney and get much more in Return.

PS...........people don't return, again and again and again if it was hype!

Skipper....I didn't call you snooty....I simply said that I wasn't.

People on the Carnival boards are like people everywhere....which was part of my point.....if they start to take away some of what passengers who were, for example, platinum cruisers....or like Disney did....add more to the silver passengers....then they're going to complain. Some people will complain about anything. I saw a recent post about the things vacationers complain about and one of them was:

"We really loved our beach vacation, but there was too much sand"

One thing I loved about Carnival's Magic was the hot tubs on the outside promendade deck. They had 3 or 4 of them, on each side of the ship, along with the ones up by the pools, so more people had to a chance to relax this way....and get a view of the ocean at the same time. I loved the Red Frog Pub. They also had an outdoor area with large gliders where up to 6 people could sit, with a table between, and chat. More shops....and not just all their own merchandise. I've tried to find something simple on a Disney ship, and it's all their own logo stuff. Adult only pool and hot tubs in the aft, where kids aren't wandering through. And more. But I have an appointment and don't have time to quibble.

You cannot possibly make a statement such as "Macy's vs KMart" and NOT include the people who shop there. It's implied.....and you know it, and so does anyone who reads that. Please.

The same people return to Disney over and over, that's very true. But the same people also return to a lot of other places over and over.....other cruise lines, other vacation spots, Las Vegas.

But Disney does NOT have to rely on repeat customers. There are always going to be "new" people (such as the OP) who haven't gone, and once Disney gets their money, it doesn't really matter. Just like the casinos in Las Vegas.....their slot machines don't have to pay.....they already reeled people in, and they got the people's money.

Whatever. Done for now.

To the OP....I said this is a previous post, although I'm pretty sure you gave up listening to this banter long ago....

If you have younger kids, they (and you) will love DCL.

As to whether or not it's worth the extra money....that is a very personal choice, and something only you can decide.

My point was taking a carnival cruise is taking a cheaper, less quality cruise and type of product you would find in wal mart and k mart and taking a dcl cruise is the type of product you would find in macy's and sachs.

Thanks for making my point, its not hype because the people come back because they are happy with the quality they received in a DCL cruise.

It's funny, I guess my husband and I aren't like the rest of the population.

We found that Disney wasn't for us after our cruise last week. I wasn't impressed with the majority of the food, nor am I always impressed with the food on Carnival. Disney DOES do a lot of things better than Carnival, such as cleanliness, friendliness, and the debarkation process. The cleanliness and friendliness varies amongst the Carnival fleet though... the Legend was amazing but the Triumph lacked in these areas.

The adult entertainment on Disney was extremely scarce. There were only three shows that were 18+ (two magic and one Marriage Game Show), the rest of the adult entertainment was for those who like to dance and go to the spa. I prefer the game shows and a dirty comedian here and there. Plus everything on Disney started late for a family who had early seating in the dining room (not my choice). I missed the few 18+ activities that were on board because I was full after eating and tired after the big shows like The Golden Mickeys, which I only found mildly entertaining even as a big kid myself.

While I did enjoy some aspects of Disney, I'm sticking to Carnival. It works better for those of us who are younger, without kids, and prefer cheap thrills.

Sounds fair enough. DCL is not for everyone. You may want to try NCL or RCCL or Celebrity. We have found RCCL to be a good cruise.

NCL is definitely on my list of "to do's" when we can finally afford/save enough money for it. Their ships are beautiful and seem like they have a lot to do. We were "parked" next to the Epic in Nassau and I kept wanting to just switch ships. :p

LOL......please don't say *parked*( It's the retire Ships Master in me that grates at that word LOL).................its *DOCKED* or Berthed* or *Moored*.

NCL is known to have a good cruise, especially if you like the free dining option.

That's not what I said. Simply because they employ two different strategies doesn't mean one is inferior, nor does it mean one attracts a lower class of passenger.

Once again, your bias is ruling your argument.

Actually I was seeing a good guy, trying hard to support a line whose has been everything they can to mess up! Hard to help them when they are their own worse enemy.

But I have made not denial of my problems with Carnival.............so that is a bias. A bias about a line whose safety record, poorly designed and operated vessels, something that has been documented for years and years, yes I think they should be ashamed of themselves .

Ruin???..no..... remember the forums have a group that love to tear down Disney, just cause! However Iger has let the parks slip and go downhill................the sooner he is gone the better.

Yet the parks are still the best in the world and the last 2 years things are turning around.

After 3 annual years, I'm done with CCL. Actually, after this year, I thought I was done with cruising altogether. Thankfully, my first DCL brought back my love of cruising and now I'm just frankly obsessed. Next DCL is in May and I'd love to get tired of DCL before moving back on to RCI. But my husband and I both agreed, we are Carnival'ed out. The ridiculously crowded promenades that funnel you through the smokey casino (yes I know you can go up and down a few levels, but its a pain to constantly run into housekeeping carts or luggage too) and bingo in your face constantly and the really, really poor service we had. We are over the more PG13 rating and prefer our entertainment family friendly. We are over hairy chest contests and bean bag tosses and trivia as the only real sea day activities.

We were very happy with Disney. I have had good CCL cruises so I know that some people really can like them, but on certain ships (like the Dream, or Unfriendly Ship), it just wasn't enough to even get me to go back on a free one. I was delighted to pack up and debark.

One thing that the OP, or anyone else who might be paying attention may notice, is that on this Board, it is always almost the same three, four or five people defending Disney and not being able to give an inch.

The rest of us are able to give plusses and minuses.

Just something to think about.

I get sick of the "Macy's/KMart" comparison, as if anyone who would cruise on Carnival is a low class, poor, second hand citizen.

wrong again..............there are many on here who are DCL fans and more then willing to say Disney is wrong or something isn't tat good.

In my case for the record I clearly agreed with daisy when she said Disney brought the magic out in a poor condition.

The rest of us are able to give plusses and minuses.

Just something to think about.

My problem with the carnival fans who seem to think they need to come here and try to prove DCL is not worth the money.

Folks go read on the Carnival Board......read the history of years od safety and accident issues..yes years...not just the last 2.

Make your own decision if it is worth it.

Agree. For some, DCL is not an expensive cruise, and it's not about cost.

I have beeen paying attention to this thread and find it's not much different than any other board on CC. I actually find the Disney cheerleaders are much more restrained.

The Carnival fans are another whole story. That crowd can be like a pack of pit bulls - downright nasty to anyone who dares to criticize! :D

Those cruisers who have not expereinced a variety of lines, or ships within a line may find it difficult to compare or offer pluses and minuses.
