Rare Deeliteful Posted November 28, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Just wondered if this was normal or just in the UK. I have a cruise booked in June for Alaska on the Millennium. My sister wants to go now but can't do it until 2015 and my brother has now booked a cruise for us on the Allure in June. .....So I want to transfer my deposit etc., for the same cruise to Alaska in 2015, I understand itineraries are not out yet b ut wanted to give X the heads up. However they are telling me it will cost £75 to transfer - seems a bit mean to me. Is it normal?
WestLakeGirl Posted November 28, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 28, 2013 Did you book thru a travel agency?
Rare Deeliteful Posted November 28, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I did originally (Opodo) but they then emailed me to say they weren't doing cruises any more so had passed all info to Celebrity.
Piggeldy Posted November 28, 2013 #4 Share Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) Could it be that you paid a £75 deposit and they are charging you cancellation charges? The following cancellations charges apply: 5 days or less 100% 6 - 14 days 90% 15 - 28 days 75% 29 - 56 days 50% 57 days or more Deposit only Please be advised that the minimum cancellation charge will always be the loss of deposit and that any amendment or transfer fees will also be charged when a booking is cancelled. http://celebritycruises.co.uk/booking-conditions/ I don't know about UK regulations but know that we (also EU) would lose our deposit if we made a significant change to our reservation (e.g. changing sail date), for minor changes (we switched from an assigned cabin to a guarantee) we only pay a smaller fee (20€). Rare Deeliteful Posted November 28, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) No Piggeldy - I paid £150 deposit. I won't lose the deposit but have to pay a transfer fee. Just not heard this before - maybe I need to read the T&Cs more closely but am sure friends of mine have changed their cruise without any cost. Cheers Pat Edited November 28, 2013 by Deeliteful

Are you Elite status? If so, you get one "change" free of charge then you have to pay after that.

Adammara Posted November 28, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 28, 2013 I would ring the UK Captains Club and see what they say. We changed a cruise from this autumn to 2014 , and it was free of charge, and we retained our perks. (I hardly dare mention we are Elite!)
