cwnhokie Posted December 10, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 10, 2013 We live in or near Baltimore. Will be sailing with kids ages 6, 7, 11, 12, 16, 17, 20 and 21. Flying to Florida or driving to Baltimore, prices about the same with airfare factored in. Is it worth it to fly for the bigger newer boat? Newer ship might be great and I'm sure you would enjoy it. But it probably would a lot less stressful if you drove to Baltimore. You're all going to have a great time so why not eliminate any potential stress.
TeresaJ Posted December 11, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Dream for all the extras. If its same cost absolutely go with the Dream! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337 using Forums mobile app
Vitamin_Sea Posted December 11, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Go with the newer, bigger Dream. It also has the water park
Colorado Kat Posted December 11, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 11, 2013 I'd go with the drive, and not the flights.
Cruizinman Posted December 11, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Really depends on the time of year as for driving or flying, you know that answer. For kids the Dream is by far the better option.
cwnhokie Posted December 11, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted December 11, 2013 We have no issue with flying actually enjoy it, but I do worry about the grandparents, they get stressed out easily. We will be going in the summer.

fritolayNY Posted December 11, 2013 #9 Share Posted December 11, 2013 Depends on time of year. Cruised on the Pride in March and it was 50 degrees. Also although the Pride is a nice ship, I hated the locations of the childrens camps. Camp Carnival was accessed thru cabin hallways. NOT SAFE! Can imagine a pediphile pick their cabin there. Circle C was up infront on the theater away from public areas. One had to walk thru the smokey casino to get to the MDR. IMHO Choosing the Magic this year for cheaper airfare and warmer weather. Rare Tapi Posted December 11, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 11, 2013 I do worry about the grandparents, they get stressed out easily. Sounds like my 70-something parents. They have, literally, traveled the world, but for some reason, the flying part always gets them irrationally stressed. Once they get to their destination, they are fine, but getting there is always a pain. They get over it quickly though. We sailed last summer with them and had a wonderful time on the cruise. They flew all the way from San Juan to Seattle with a connection in Atlanta. My dad was ready to blow a gasket until the plane touched down in Seattle. But once we were there, they had the time of their lives. Based on our experience traveling with them, I'd actually recommend the Dream. Although the flying part may be stressful, sailing on a newer ship twice the size of the Pride, with a better itinerary and better amenities for the whole family will more than compensate for the drawbacks about flying. We loved our cruise aboard the Dream. It ranks as one of our best Carnival cruises ever. :)
Athankfulheart Posted December 11, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 11, 2013 We are cruising with our 8 children on the Dream in January. Its our second cruise on the Dream. They are 21,20,18,16,13,10,8,7 years old. We are driving from SW Missouri. Its way more stressful for us to fly than to drive. I would definitely recommend the Dream. :)
Mysticks1 Posted December 11, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 11, 2013 I would choose the Dream as well, I think the kids would enjoy it more. Also you get to sail down the Mississippi River from New Orleans which is something you will enjoy.
