caribbeancruising5 Posted December 24, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 24, 2013 Hi- we are interested in going to champagne reef for snorkeling for a few hours from the Roseau cruise port, then from there we would like to go to the Papillote Tropical Gardens, and then back to the ship. Does anyone know how much the cab fares would be and if there are tour busses that go to these places? Thank You!
caribbeancruising5 Posted December 31, 2013 Author #2 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Hi- We will be in Dominica this January 2014. We want to go to Champagne Reef to snorkel for a few hours. Can anyone tell me how it is and if there is a beach bar/ lounge chairs, as one person in our group does not really like the water and will not be snorkeling. Also how much is the cab fare from the port in Roseau? Thank You!!!!
cruiseycrazy Posted January 1, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2014 We went with a tour from the ship so I am unable to comment on cab fare. From what I remember the area is very rocky , no chairs or amenities. This was by far the best snorkeling we have ever experienced though.
NorthCarolinaBelle Posted January 1, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2014 We went with Bumpiing Tours, so don't know about cab fare. As for anything there, there was a trailer selling bottled water and maybe beer, and that was all. There's a small rocky shore, but no real beach to speak of. Great snorkeling, though!!:D
Windsailer Posted January 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Don't know how much the cab fare was but we had transportation included when we arranged a tour with them of the reef. One of the people with us didn't snorkel so she stayed up by the building where they rent equipment and sell libations. There are some chairs there on a nice deck and she was pleased to hang out there. www.champagnereef.com underwater@champagnereef.com We saw so much more with a private guide in the water...highly recommend. Windsailer Posted January 2, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 2, 2014 If you do book a tour directly with them - ask for Andrew. He was just great.
OCruisers Posted January 2, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 2, 2014 Have you considered taking the tour though the ship that takes you by water to Champagne Reef so all of that climbing up and down on the rocks is avoided? Any who don't want to snorkel can relax to the boat and watch. :) LuLu ~~~~~
