Princess took my Cabin away after I made final payment.

I don't blame you for being upset.

I have had Sapphire E 731 before, and have it again for my short coastal next month.

(Had to check your sailing....hoped I wasn't the one who got your cabin......)

I always try to get the extended balcony mini suites, love being able to see the wake. But I sure wouldn't like the Dolphin Deck.

If you were on our sailing, I would definitely let you come over and visit...;):D

I think Princess should give you a Vista Suite at the very least..............JMHO

A $25 SBC is a slap. When I had E731 before, they called me two days before and offered me an Aloha Deck balcony and $1,000. Said NO~

So sorry for what happened to you.......

That is why my question came to the board...because I can't believe that they would do this to any "guest" that had paid in full.

I paid DEC. 7 in full , the other PAX or the TA paid their final payment Dec 9th(final payment due date) My cabin number changed on Dec, 9th....I truly believe it was A TA screw up.

Now you can understand why I expected at least a pleasant we are sorry let's see what we can do for you...but instead I get "you can't have that cabin back" my response how can you give it to someone else when I paid for it before they did? ...response "it was a management decision, it's final..." "Can I speak to another person higher than you?' reply I am the highest you can go"?...me...really? Offer from the rep Dolphin deck or AA and $25.OBC...my reply let me think about what I want to do.....I end the phone call in disbelief....

BTW...the first offer was just 25. OBC......until I explained the cabin I was losing had the extended balcony, I was not even contacted etc....and to top it off when they changed my cabin number my bed config. went to twin...no big deal...but still when you are giving a person a new cabin shouldn't be make sure you have it coded right....

Is it possible to still grab one of those aft corner category BB on Caribe?

Not sure of the number on the Sapphire but on the other Grand class the number was C748 i think or C752?

Sorry i dont have the chart in front of me but we actually loved that cabin a lot

Resolution.....

I really was toying with cancellation

but instead I choose to downgrade to a B4(BA) Balcony...

NO tub or extra room...but I'll have my larger balcony and view of the wake.:)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and ideas.

Very disappointing. Did you decide not to try Facebook? I would still write a letter, and maybe post of FB. If privacy is a worry open a new FB account under a new name - may need to get an extra email account from Hotmail or yahoo etc. I would be even more persistent, but maybe I am just stubborn!

No, I did not go to FB...privacy is an issue.... I'll kept your suggestion in mind for the future.

I will probably write a letter or make a follow-up call.....I am probably more stubborn than u.... but, I have to pick my battles and this is not one of them.

I am glad you have decided to still do the cruise. I too would be holding out though for a much larger OBC as it was Princess who messed you around. You were just the unfortunate cruiser whose cabin was snatched away from her!

At least you are at the rear of the ship. Go and enjoy the cruise and if nothing else what has happened to you has taught me a valuable lesson which is to check my CP often and not leave anything to chance.

Yes, and we spent a very long night chatting in the casino on Sapphire........'til they booted us out.

SO, IF you ever get on a ship with me again..........you may come visit my balcony ;):D........because that's the one I'll likely have.

Also......I seem to recall a Vision of the Seas bag that I would gladly pay you for.......:)

Still, I'm sorry you got a cruddy deal. I'd be very unhappy......

If I were the OP I would go on the cruise and enjoy myself. I would however send a very specific letter about the entire situation to Princess. What was done was really unacceptable.

I hope that anyone who has a DNU noted on their booking and gets moved without permission let Princess know this was unacceptable. I think if enough passengers note this in their end-of-cruise survey and in writing to customer service maybe they'll take notice. If no one complains, they're certainly not going to try to make any changes.

DUH - that's what the DNU is for. Don't upgrade me for any reason. I wouldn't label someone "whinging" ("whining") because Princess involuntarily "upgraded" them. They marked their reservation as "DNU" and unless there's a issue with the room itself (unusable, etc.), Princess should ask the cruiser if they want the upgrade.

Some people don't understand, do they.....:D no matter how much you tell them.

Wanna bet Princess' response will be to do away with the DNU option?... problem solved!

If I understand the OP correctly, she was not upgraded. She was moved two cabins over within the same category.

I fully agree Princess should not have done this, especially without notifying her.

But Princess did not ignore the DNU as no upgrade was involved.

Good point! Princess should not be allowed to move people around within the same category (of mini-suite) at all! If that's the case, we should just book a guarantee and possibly get the price reduction that goes along with booking a guarantee at the last minute (sometimes the price is lower on a guarantee, but not always).

OP ended up on the wrong g side of someone else's unwanted upgrade. Without knowing what happened with the people who originally had the cabin, it's hard to know exactly what went wrong where.

I agree that people who request no upgrade shouldn't be moved except in extreme circumstances, but I don't think OP's situation is an example of a no upgrade request just being ignored.

I agree but Princess can do better than a measly $25 OBC. I think a $100 OBC is more reasonable and maybe a coffee card or drink package.

Out of 20 + cruises, we enjoyed that cabin the most, well, except for the VS aft-facing:)

Loved the deep balcony that is truly aft-facing. I didn't realize that those are now coded as B4 instead of BB

Enjoy your cruise

Nope , was not moved two cabins over within same category.

Moved to an aft-facing non minisuite cabin on the Caribe deck, the one with the extremely deep balcony, a corner unit.
