Thebes Posted December 27, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 27, 2013 This might sound like an odd question but I like to ask it anyway : do u feel more comfortable on a ship going to Caribbean islands wearing long or short sleeves around the ship i.e. Going to dinner, shows, bars or casino ? Rare Keith1010 Posted December 27, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Inside the ship for the evening you should wear what is appropriate for the evening attire and as to short or long sleeves if you have a choice wear what you prefer. take us away Posted December 27, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 27, 2013 Definitely short sleeves during the day but the ship can be chilly in the evening so often long sleeves in the evening, then there are formal nights.
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 27, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 27, 2013 DH wears polo/golf shirts during the day and evening for smart casual days/nights. On formal nights, he no longer takes his tuxedo. So he wears either a suit or a jacket -- with long sleeve dress shirts. I am always warm and wear sleeveless tops. I do not find HAL ships to be that cool.

In the Caribbean my DH wears t-shirts (classy ones) and long shorts during the day and short-sleeve golf shirts and slacks on casual evenings. At pool time he is usually in his swim trunks with coordinating top. On formal evenings he won't give up his tux, yet. This is not to say you won't need a sweater/sweatshirt at some point. IMO, the Show Lounge can be cool in the evenings.

Rare LMaxwell Posted December 28, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Man you're from Pac NW heading to the Caribbean and you're talking about sleeves? All evenings I am most comfortable in short sleeves. Even on nights that I wear a suit to dinner I go change afterwards back into shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Short sleeves all the way. sail7seas Posted December 28, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Why not bring a few of each..... then you know you will be comfortable. The ships have wonderful laundry service and you can send out any shirts for laundering that you wish to rewear.

Typhoon1 Posted December 28, 2013 #19 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Short sleeves as it gets quite warm. The ladies like to carry a sweater or cover up as it can get chilly in some of the air conditioned public areas.
Cruising-along Posted December 28, 2013 #20 Share Posted December 28, 2013 Whether it's the Caribbean, Alaska or the Med, we bring both long and short sleeves on every cruise. The ship can be warm or cold, best to be prepared for both.

iancal Posted January 3, 2014 #23 Share Posted January 3, 2014 Short sleeves. And a light sweater since we sometimes find the AC on the ship a little cool. We always go with layers.
