LA airport to Long Beach?

Will be headed to Alaska in 2006.....Summit leaves out of Long Beach. What is the advice to get from the LA airport to Long Beach hotel? Costs? Hotel recommendations?

Long Beach pier facilities are owned or leased by Carnival, I doubt Celebrity would use them. The San Pedro World Cruise Center is where RCCL sails from and I've also seen Cunard and Princess there. My guess would be that Celebrity would use the San Pedro facilities.

 

Actually makes little difference as San Pedro and Long Beach are only a few miles apart.

 

Cab fare from LAX runs about $30 to $40 and you can get a limo for about $80 to $100. There are also several shuttle companies, SuperShuttle is one and that would probably be best for 1 or 2 people. Cabs are sometimes hard to find and you can prearrange a limo or shuttle and you know you'll be covered.

 

San Pedro hotels are Sheraton, Hilton, Holiday Inn and Best Western, among others. They are all within a mile or 2 of the pier and have shuttles to and from the ship.

 

There are numerous hotels in Long Beach including Hilton, Westin and Renaissance. I don't believe they have shuttle service to the pier, but a cab would be less than $10.

We booked the Sheraton in San Pedro and they offer a rate $149/noc, but for $50 more they will take you to & from the airport and to & from the pier. this is a real bargain. Since we are coming in a day early anyway to avoid Chicago weather hassles, it works for us!
