whataboutport Posted December 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2013 I see on the deck plans of Vision that the aft balconies have a much larger balcony but the cabin itself looks smaller, and the regular balcony cabins have a smaller balcony but larger cabin. Are the deck plans generally to scale? Anyone have first hand knowledge?
Clarea Posted December 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2013 It's hard to generalize because the Vision class is not a class of identical ships, but 4 different designs. I can say that two aft JS staterooms on Enchantment (7666 & 7166) are longer and less wide than side facing JS staterooms, and have a walk-in closets. They also have huge balconies. dsvd79 Posted December 31, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 31, 2013 We had 7654. The room was a normal size D-1, but the balcony was huge!
cb at sea Posted December 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2013 The aft balconies are deeper than on the side of the ship. The balcony can only be as wide as the cabin, no matter where it is. The deck plans are not "to scale", but they are fairly representative of what you'll get.
critterchick Posted December 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2013 I've only been in aft cabins on Vision so I don't know how their interiors compare to the balcony cabins along the side. I can tell you that they are very well laid out, you get a full sofa and you get an enormous balcony with room for a couple of lounge chairs (which we had in 2007 and 2012) in addition to the usual two chairs and table. They are fabulous, IMO.

Are the deck plans generally to scale? Anyone have first hand knowledge? I think I can help you. I came off the Vision 12 days b2b2b Nov 11-23. First 2 days was upgraded to "regular" port side JS 8086 Days 3-5 in regular balcony 7108 midship Final 7 days in JS aft-corner balcony 8588. Allow me to summarize your question: The two JS's were definitely bigger (definitely wider but I think a foot or two longer also) than the regular balcony. The two JS's interior were exactly the same. The regular 7108 balcony was small, the regular JS balcony was more spacious by far, and the aft corner was beyond compare!!!! For the record I will have no care of any itinerary or ship whatsoever, if I ever find a corner aft balcony available with a wrap-around deck again I am grabbing it. :D 7108 midship balcony JS Corner aft JS
gogispu Posted January 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 1, 2014 We hosted a "sailaway" party on ours on the Legend. It fit about 15 people. Yes, it is deeper.

Hoopster95 Posted January 1, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2014 I just noticed now that last pic I posted is more intersting ... take a look at the reflection on the sliding glass door. That's the Legend during it's Panama Canal westbound itinerary docked beside us in Colon :)
mommabean Posted January 1, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 1, 2014 Some of the corner aft balconies wrap around, other's are pie shaped. All are very large. I'm not sure which ships have which corner balcony other than Enchantment having the pie shape and Rhapsody having the wrap around. I know these 2 from experience. Enchantment had the walk in closet that was very large. Rhapsody had a regular shallow closet. Gina
