FlipFlopCruiser Posted December 31, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Would someone please explain to me exactly what a pub crawl is? I know that may sound like a silly question, but I've never been a big drinker and never did a pub crawl. We do a group cruise every summer with family and friends which I organize and try to plan group activities for us. This time it was suggested we add a pub crawl but I have no idea what to really do. When I was talking to someone about it one day, she said she couldn't afford to buy a drink in every club just to join the group. I said well then don't buy one in every club, just come along. She said she couldn't do that because you Have to buy one in every club. So, help me.....are there rules to this? I thought you just get together and go from club to club and have a good time, ordering a drink when you want one.
agc291 Posted December 31, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 31, 2013 We did a pub crawl in key west through carnival that was alot of fun. They had 5 stops and we had a ticket for a drink at each stop. If you are arranging it then i am not sure how it would work. I am sure the person wouldnt have to buy at each place. Maybe you could contact the bars ahead of time and work it out? If you wee planning to do it on board then i am plum out of ideas but i do recommend the KW pub crawl :)

GradUT Posted December 31, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 31, 2013 No, "pub crawl etiquette" does not require a participant to buy a drink in each pub visited. In fact, a participant is free not to buy any drinks at all; they can just go along for the fun. There are absolutely no arbitrary rules for pub crawling. lkleach Posted December 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2013 We just did a pub crawl/poker run on our Freedom cruise. I just looked at what bars would be open at the time we wanted to do it and let people know where we'd be. I think we made about 6 stops. I don't think anyone drank at each and every stop, but there was always at least someone ordering something. We did a shot contest at the sports bar, but that was the only "set up" drinking we did. Since you're planning it on your own, feel free to set it up however the group wants. We even got John Heald to donate some prizes for the games we played. The main thing I would change would be to do it at a different time (later in the evening) since we did it in the afternoon on a sea day. Lots of bars were closed, so we were limited. But we just took our drinks from the previous bars into the empty ones and had more do a meet/mingle as well.
HawkIVette Posted December 31, 2013 #6 Share Posted December 31, 2013 (edited) Combine a poker run with your bar crawl, as stated above. Add games at each stop that participants must play in order to receive a card from the deck. Have your friends (the ones who don't want to drink that much) be the organizers of the games. That way they feel more included and you have some people who don't get carried away. So, at the casino bar, organize a single hand of blackjack with the best hand wining a drink.........Atrium bar, play the bean bag toss for a drink.......Piano bar, must sing a song with the piano man,,,,,,, Last bar, best hand of poker from the cards gets a free drink. Everybody who wants to participate throws in a dollar in the kitty for the prizes. Bring cheap prizes from home or ask guest services to throw in a few things. Remember, it's not how drunk you get, it's how you get drunk. Edited December 31, 2013 by HawkIVette
golfadj Posted December 31, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Not much in the way of rules just go from bar to bar buy drinks if you want or dont if you dont want to. On ours questions were asked and cheap gifts awarded. Lots of fun.
