Clarea Posted January 3, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I have done some research on finding places while on our cruise that have free wifi, but wanted to make sure that we will be able to Facetime. Want to touch base with the husband and kids at home. You should have no trouble with Facetime at a land based hotspot. However, the WiFi on board the ship probably will not support it very well, if at all.
Wheeling_family_of_3 Posted January 3, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 3, 2014 You will not be able to FaceTime (at least we weren't able to) with wifi on the ship. The connection can't handle that much data. It's a VERY slow connection.
Daghis Posted January 3, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2014 I've generally not had great luck with FaceTime calls from the ship, either due to poor bandwidth or the connection just not working in the first place. Skype (video) did work better. During my cruise on Allure (which does have the improved internet service), Skype was nearly perfect and I used it regularly to check in with DH back home.
