tv24 Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Good Evening to All: We are currently on the Sojourn at the beginning of the World Cruise. I started this thread to provide a space for CC'ers to submit comments on this World Cruise experience. I plan to use it as time and internet connections permit. Smooth sailing so far. Oceans of champagne flowed last evening, lots of caviar available. I was thrilled by most excellent fresh OJ, berries and fruit with today's breakfast. We are now eagerly awaiting the block party. Some hiccups with our own disembarkation procedures, but probably due to issues at Long Beach's cruise terminal, and not Seabourn. Excellent service from Seabourn. But those bath towels do cry out for replacement. Definitely not fluffy. More later!
Cisleman Posted January 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Unfortunately Jan Stearman fell and fractured her collarbone when boarding the Sojourn and will not be able to perform duties as cruise director. Was told at dinner tonight an as yet unidentified cruise director will join us in Hilo.

Nigella Posted January 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Thank you for starting the thread, which I'll be following with interest. Gosh that's bad news about Jan. The CD seems a bit jinxed on this cruise. I wish her a speedy recovery. Who is the Captain? Is he staying on for the whole cruise ?

tv24 Posted January 12, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Blogging and photos? Would love to do that but so far we're somewhat crippled by the slow Internet and bandwidth issues. Typical for all cruise ships, as you all know. Today I had to take my tablet into Lahaina to do some banking at a cafe. Couple quick thoughts...we've been very happy with the lack of crowds in the fitness center. Little touches like lots of fresh OJ and coffee in the Square are lovely. Entertainment has exceeded my expectations. Jazz from Mojo Duo just perfect. Melissa Manchester put on a great show and has been available to chat. Still waiting to be wowed by the food. Nothing wrong, just not up to my picky picky standards. Oh, and our V6 cabin is brilliant, so spacious and comfy, well designed.
Cisleman Posted January 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 12, 2014 I am keeping a "blog" of our trip. It is intended to chronicle our trip for my future reference as we travel a bit and I lose track of the timing of where we have been. It is also a convenient way for me to organize my photos and keep friends up to date on where we are and what we are doing. It is certainly not intended to be an in depth critique of Seabourn. So with that said, feel free to check in from time to time as we proceed on our way to Venice aboard "Our Home Away from Home" on the Seabourn Sojourn: http://cliffphotos.com/SeabournSojourn2014WorldCruise.html

Wonder what brand and model of camera you have used! Thank you and we will check out your journey from time to time. I know how time consuming blogging can be on a cruise ship with slow internet. We have done couple of world cruise with HAL ms Amsterdam which I have run a blog. We have also done few other cruises includes Seabourn Odyssey one and half years ago. We just loved it. tv24 Posted January 12, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted January 12, 2014 So here I am at the Apple Store in Waikiki. Way more tropical and relaxed than our stores back home in the Bay Area. Hey, Ciselman, let's look for each other on board. And kudos for starting the blog.
Cisleman Posted January 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 13, 2014 We were at the Apple Store at Ala Moana Mall this AM trying to get Eleanor's IPad working correctly. A continuing struggle. I am pasting a link here to my photos of birds taken in Hawaii over the past 4 years. The link is now also on my World Blog. In answer to a previous question I generally use Nikon SLRs with an 80-400 lens for my bird photos. Many of the others are with a small canon point and shoot and my cell phone. cruisecrazyone Posted January 14, 2014 #17 Share Posted January 14, 2014 David E. Green is on the job and looking as marvelous as always! Jan and Dan may spend a day or two in Hawaii before returning home. She looked as gorgeous as ever when she left and should be back onboard early March. Meanwhile, enjoying David E., one of our favorite Seabourn people. BTW, Ms. A. is back onboard and rebooking her hair appointments, so all is well! Hooray! When she left the ship she could not speak, so this is truly a miracle. Wish you all could be here on this fabulous journey. Everything is Seabourn!:)

tv24 Posted January 18, 2014 Author #24 Share Posted January 18, 2014 We crossed the equator this morning and are enjoying fairly smooth seas and warm breezy air. I am still marveling at the little things that make my day on board so enjoyable, all of the fresh fruit and fresh OJ, the coffee selections at the Square, the pleasant quiet places to sit and read. Have connected with a fun group who play blackjack in the casino. Have found the entertainment to be quite professional and enjoyable. And the service is virtually without a flaw. BTW, we will be on a mission to find the best French restaurant in Papeete, so if anyone has recommendations, fire away! My only issues so far, which I will write up in an eventual review, have to do with the lack of adventure in the dinner food. Nothing is really wrong, but I have been somewhat disappointed. And someone should start a thread on Restaurant 2. It has been noticeably unpopular on this cruise, lots of empty tables each evening. A number of passengers have commented that they have recommended that Seabourn rethink the menu in Resto 2 (steakhouse? Asian?), but comments have fallen on deaf ears, at least so far. An area where management should pay attention to the customers. But all-in-all, this remains the trip of a lifetime.
cruisecrazyone Posted January 19, 2014 #25 Share Posted January 19, 2014 Yes, Cruiser Dan, we are completely "powered up". All is Seabourn but it is flying by and you know how I am when it is time to "power down"!!! Wish you two were here. J brought the little cars but no one is playing! Love you!
