DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted January 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2014 Do you need to get a tender ticket if you are platinum or to you just show you SS card?

DANCING GRANDMOMMY Posted January 10, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted January 10, 2014 no ticket needed, go to guest services and they will escort you to the front of the line That sure seems like a waste of staff time. I would think the platinum card would serve as a tender ticket. Oh well that is why I don't run big organizations.

Oh well that is why I don't run big organizations. This is true, but I can tell you from personal experience I'd much rather be escorted to the tender. Less verbal abuse from passengers that don't understand this "perk" and think you are ditching the line to out an out passengers NOT letting you thru :(
golfadj Posted January 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2014 We have been platinum for about 10 cruises and this is what we do Walk down to deck 0 flashing our platinum cards and get right onto a tender. Never had a problem with anyone thinking we were doing anything wrong.

Less verbal abuse from passengers that don't understand this "perk" and think you are ditching the line to out an out passengers NOT letting you thru :( I am sorry that people can be so cruel. Why not just have a VIP line. When there is no platinum waiting the call the next person in line. Just brain storming ideas here. If we come up with something we can suggest it to Carnival. Silly to make people at guest services go down to deck 0 repeatedly. A sign that says that platinums go to the head of the line would not be a bad idea either. carrieluvsgreg Posted January 10, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2014 When we were on the dream last April, we weren't platinum yet, but my husband had a great conversation with the cruise director, when he heard it was our 25th anniversary, he sent us to the lounge at the end of the ship to be tendered with the VIPs. It was great, we got there, they gave us a number, then escorted us down in small groups right to the tender. We did walk past the regular guests disembarking, but it was like the "fast pass" line at universal studios. It was clear what line we were in. Some people can be really rude and nasty and I have often wondered what they would do if there was no staff member running interference.
JMAE Posted January 11, 2014 #11 Share Posted January 11, 2014 On the Pride in Oct 2013 show our cards and went to the front of the line. We did not hear comments from other folks.

Agreed on this one - have been in the situation of a 2 hour delay tendering because of weather and lines were up to deck 7 or 8 waiting for a tender. Even with an officer escorting us past the line and asking folks to make room (the stairs were completely full) we were hurled insults and abusive language. At deck 2 we were turned over to an entertainment staff member who when people would be obnoxious to us would shrug and say, "you'll have to ask guest services about it" instead of explaining we were platinum and it was a perk they could earn. No way I'd have fought my way through that one myself.
rhinomike Posted January 11, 2014 #14 Share Posted January 11, 2014 We met at Guest Services recently on the Sunshine. There were other platinums waiting too. They decided to let all their excursions go first. After waiting around nearly an hour and fighting with a supervisor we walked off ourselves. It's another one of those things where Carnival has no consistency in how they handle this. Same with the platinum debark process. Some ships have been no trouble at all, we've been escorted right down. Others, like the one I mentioned in my other post, were a nightmare and the entertainment host added to the problem with how he handled the situation (he was kind of a jerk all cruise anyway.) cruznlobo Posted January 11, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 11, 2014 We always go to the Pursers desk and someone takes us down the elevator to Deck 0 and puts us at the front of the line.

Sad when entertainment staff, who is now part of auto tips, doesnt stand up for you when following their policy. The CD they would have escalated that to was the worst we've ever sailed with so doubt it would have helped. We was obnoxious and rude and his staff was either the same or obviously completely miserable due to the way he treated them. We were sailing with a great group of friends so no way was it going to ruin our cruise. Oh - off topic - but I finally started that SW VA thread over in the Floataway Lounge. :)
Rare Jamman54 Posted January 12, 2014 #23 Share Posted January 12, 2014 Here are the tender FAQ's from my last Splendor cruise. Scroll down to see the proper way for Platinums / Diamonds / FTTF to tender. Of course, this may vary from ship to ship....
