portcbob Posted January 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2014 Hi fellow cruisers. Booked a 14 nighter on Norwegian Spirit from Barcelona to Venice from July 6 to July 20, 2015. Just wondering what the weather should be like including the sea conditions. Cheers Bob & Chris.:):):)

dsrdsrdsr Posted January 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 11, 2014 In Europe, strong winds are more commonly associated with autumn, winter and spring. But storms can happen in summer as well. Most often, they don't.

Depends where you are...just like the weather in the US...changes all the time, and if hot the winds can be welcome to be honest, but they are not on a daily basis if at all. I'm not sure where your concern about wind comes from although summer storms are possible they would be the exception rather than the rule The Mediterranean being an enclosed body of water would expect sea conditions to be calmer than out in the Atlantic
dsrdsrdsr Posted January 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted January 12, 2014 The Mediterranean being an enclosed body of water would expect sea conditions to be calmer than out in the Atlantic The Med's 2,400 miles long with average depth of water 5,000 feet. There's plenty of room for storms to build up rough seas if they want to - it's enclosed, but it's not just a little lake.
TheBeeSea Posted February 9, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 9, 2014 We have been going to the Med for some years and luckily have never had a whole heap of poor weather. July will be hot, and as others have stated poor weather can come at anytime. Last year while in Venice (July) a wind blew up one lunch time and the heavens opened -quite a wet couple of hours. I have seen while on a cruise lightning in the distance
itsjb1 Posted February 10, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Hi guys. Just need to know if it is really windy in the Med in July normally????? Cheers Bob & Chris. We missed our stop in St Tropez a few years ago in July because it was too windy to get the tenders in the water safely, so you never know. LondonTowner Posted February 11, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 11, 2014 It will most likely be hot, sunny and in some places very humid. Also, expect lots of crowds everywhere.
