festival in old san juan

I need some help with this.................I know the festival will on in Old San Juan this weekend we fly in on sunday around 230pm now we plan on just taking a taxi for the 6 of us ( we thought it might be quicker)to carnival valor. Can anyone tell me for sure what it is like there??? I don't want to get stuck paying a huge taxi fare if we get held up in traffic. I still have time that I can add on tranfers if need be. Thanks in advance:)

The taxi will be a set fee and they have the published fees available at the airport. You will have to pay extra (it was $1 per bag) luggage.

If it were me, I would book Carnival transfers since traffic is going to be a nightmare around that time. I'm sure they have a planned route and will get through quicker than most cabs. We are staying at the Marriott in Condado so we plan to catch a cab to the port as early as possible.

Taxis are regulated, so rate will be as usual. Taxis will also have access to the same special traffic lanes that the cruise ship transfers will have- so take a taxi and save $$.
