mmckm Posted February 11, 2014 #52 Share Posted February 11, 2014 We spend a lot of time on our balcony and unless the mini bar gets stocked with this package we wouldn't be interested as we always have a few drinks sitting out there. Going back and forth to the bar is a real pain when your relaxing. unless they change that we will stick to the buying from gifts and services the beer and liquor we want in the room. We are in suites so we get a mini bar set up anyway. Our drinks on deck and at dinner would never pay for it. Its a great idea for those who don't spend a lot of time on their balcony or in their room. It works great for some people and not for others. reedprincess Posted February 13, 2014 #53 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I can categorically confirm that YES wine by the glass is covered in the dining rooms- we enjoyed several different types throughout our cruise. There was no separate drink waiter or sommelier on our cruise, our table waiter & jr. waiter were the ones handling drink orders throughout the cruise. Been a while since we've seen a sommelier on a Princess cruise. When we asked the waiter about it, they said they had been discontinued relatively recently - but didn't give a specific timeline for when it had happened. And yes, the dining room bar is in the galley. I don't know of any line that has an add-on drink package that includes mini-fridge drinks or room service (yet). Maybe some day - but not yet. Some people pick up drinks as they head back to the room and stockpile - especially beers. Others just run back up to the bar. If the package doesn't work for you, mmkm, no worries - it works for others.

gacruisergal Posted February 14, 2014 #58 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We were on a Celebrity transatlantic cruise in December and purchased the Classic Drink Package which was more expensive than the one that Princess has on trial. It was wonderful, unlimited wines for dinner with the ability to match glasses to the courses. Specialty coffees, teas and bottled water and juices. No need to sign any tabs and could transport the glasses anywhere you were going any time during the day and night (think casino). We brought back drinks to the balcony in the late afternoon and enjoy on our own. Then drinks in the bars before dinner. We actually saved money on the package which I calculated after we got home. It was a great and worthwhile deal! Since you could spread it out over the entire day, I was never buzzed" just happy and content. That's what a cruise vacation should be all about. Hope they have it on the Ruby in June when we do the North Cape and Summer Solstice.....................have a great Carib balcony.
OCruisers Posted February 14, 2014 #59 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We were recently on Crown Princess for a B2B - 1/18/14 & 1/25/14. The new Liquor Package was introduced on the 1/25 sailing. Pam's info below is still accurate. $49/pp/day plus 15% gratuity. Everyone 21 and older in the cabin must purchase it, those under 21 must purchase an "Ultimate" card/sticker. The package includes all beverages valued up to $10, No need to buy a soda sticker or coffee card. The "Ultimate" sticker includes everything $10 or less. It can be used in the MDR and Specialty Restaurants. It was even good at Princess Cays. Fine to use at Vines as well. Basically, anyplace except Room Service. Chris (Bar Manager) told us it was going to be fleet wide and no longer a test. Don't know for sure ... just what he said. Note: If you want to buy a drink for someone else, you have to charge it to your card. No problem there. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will try to answer if I know for sure ... since we just did it. LuLu ~~~~

The other person in my room did not need to purchase the package. Jim Jim, that's GREAT! :D Wish we could have done this on Crown. DH drinks way more than I do. I'd be fine just getting the "Coke Sticker" and ordering glasses of wine on my card. I think as time goes by Princess will tweak the Ultimate Alcohol Sticker a bit. Thanks for reporting back the latest! LuLu ~~~

Ha ha...I think the fact that it has crab meat in it means it's an appetizer. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Stacy8448 Posted March 3, 2014 #70 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Entire cruise and can only be purchased on embarkation or following day. We had it on the Star for our 15 night holiday Hawaii cruise, if you have any questions (that haven't been answered in the other threads/posts by myself or others) happy to answer them. It worked great for us, but others may not find it to be of value. We do not have kids/under 21s, just the 2 of us. I'm going on the Hawaiian cruise in March...Did princess offer just the $49 alcohol/drink package or did they also have a lesser expensive one too? Hi Stacy! Welcome to Cruise Critic! :) The alcohol drink package was only offered at the $49 + 15% (gratuity) per day and it had to be bought by the 2nd day of the cruise.
