jlindemer Posted January 22, 2014 #26 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I am sure to get flamed for this but I will say it anyway. It is nice to have a different option for entertainment. And yes, there is an additional cost. HOWEVER, no one is twisting anyone's arm to go to this. So, if you don't like it, just don't go. But, some people do like the entertainers they are bringing onboard and let them enjoy it. So, if you don't like it, just move on. No need to bad-mouth others or the company. Normally, I would agree. But, seeing as how they are now charging $100+ more for the cruise alone PLUS the extra to see the special performer it is ridiculous.
grublet22 Posted January 22, 2014 #27 Share Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) I'm sure this will be successful as people will pay to say they did it...though it would be funny to see nobody show up for REO or some of the other way over done groups on the list. There are always those folks on board who 'love' so and so and will run to see them, probably spending the $100 on the meet and greet. Others will consider it a night that they will be blocked out of the main lounge for an event that requires an upsell and many will be confused. To new cruisers who know no different, its no big deal...to those that have watched things go from where they were to where they're going, its a hard thing to keep watching. I get the image of a bunch of groupies wearing their brand new inch of gold jewelry, drinking their DoD, getting in line for the meet and greet to get their picture taken that will be later sold back to them by CCL... And Hopefully they are doing it without having you being there judging them! I don't understand why the negativity? If you don't like, don't go. They are trying something different and not every change makes everyone happy. Ease up! Edited January 22, 2014 by grublet22
TrqoisWtrs Posted January 22, 2014 Author #28 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Agree that the list of performers could use some work. Although I'd pay to see Gavin DeGraw or Daughtry. Olivia Newton John was right up my alley growing up. :D So - it would be a hoot to see her.

cruizinisthebest Posted January 22, 2014 #30 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I took an email survey from Carnival a few months ago that covered this subject. It seems the tickets are somewhat overpriced for the majority of the performers listed. Living in Nashville, TN very few of the listed performers would play a venue much larger than the Wildhorse Saloon and the tickets wouldn't be much more than $20. The VIP tickets seem to be overpriced. The rules of canceling a cruise where the performer cancels the show seem somewhat harsh as well. Are the bar waiter going to get in the way of seeing the show? There seem to be a lot of additional questions that could be asked. Matt The waiters will have to walk around to serve just as they do now. And perhaps at certain times they won't serve at all. Don't see that as a big deal. I do think they should have had the list of performers and sailing dates ready by the time they made this announcement. Come on...that's annoying that the list isn't there. The FAQ has alot covered but some stuff has been forgotten. And I'm sorry, I'm a parent of young kids and take them cruising, but these concerts should be adults-only. The included entertainment is bad enough but if I pay for a ticket, I'm not trying to be bothered with the kiddos.
suzinva Posted January 22, 2014 #31 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I think it's a great idea and would pay to see some of them. If they were someone I didn't want to see, I just wouldn't go, simple as that. But, $20-$40 tickets is a bargain where I live and I can see me paying that. And considering M&G packages can go from Carnival's price up to the stratosphere, it doesn't seem outrageous to me. I have never paid for that and probably wouldn't but yeah, I'd pay to see a concert by talented musicians. Better than being "entertained" for free by bad karaoke singers. JustCruiseMe Posted January 22, 2014 #32 Share Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Hope some of you enjoy it. I'll enjoy staying in port longer but I won't book a more expensive cruise just because they are on board as I said before I wouldn't walk across the street to see any entertainer (or the president). They mean nothing to me. Edited January 22, 2014 by JustCruiseMe

Geeeez Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Totally agree. And they are fixing the entertainment in other areas too. The concerts are an option. If you don't want to go, enjoy the port longer or the ship that will have less crowded public areas since many will be at these concerts. There's nothing to complain about AT ALL. rocketship Posted January 22, 2014 #35 Share Posted January 22, 2014 So it looks like these are excursions in Nassau, Cozumel and Catalina... Which is smart, so that the performers do not have to be on the ship all the time. They fly in and out. I have only found Nassau people so far. Does anyone else have Cozumel and Catalina? Sailor_Sally Posted January 22, 2014 #39 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I found the dates for the Paradise. April 19, May 12, May 31, August 18. The prices are considerably more than what they are over Spring Break. May 31 is $509 pp for an inside stateroom. It shows Day 4 Carnival Live Concert in the itinerary. Yes but April 19 th is $349 and May 12 th is $389 same price as their cruises without the concerts .

ready2cruzagain Posted January 22, 2014 #44 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Last month on the Conquest the entertainment in the main theater was not much at all! 2 nights were Hasbro game, 2 production shows (seen before and you could not pay me to go again), welcome aboard show, legends show and I am forgetting if anything else. We basically did not even go to the show lounge in the evenings because of the poor entertainment.
Athankfulheart Posted January 22, 2014 #45 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I don't really care about the concerts, but it would be nice to have a later day in Cozumel. Just wrong I say ...Just wrong. You mean live entertainment starring the passengers? The entertainment has really gone downhill lately. I think this is a big plus. jakeT Posted January 22, 2014 #47 Share Posted January 22, 2014 You are not paying for your entrainment !!! You know it is not going to be $20. Then bring the house bands back to were they were before the cuts. Great. Try yo bring the shoes back to before the cuts. Really great. Carnival will say they are giving you great entrainment,,, BUT you are paying for it. THEY ARE NOT ADDING THEY ARE CUTTING BACK. Charging more for that cruise, and cutting one show per cruise

wantocruisemore Posted January 22, 2014 #49 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I for one am hoping this will be on my cruise and someone we want to see. I can't even get my DH to go to the shows anymore. But for some of these, he will go. And for those of you criticizing, just don't pay to go. We don't do FTTF or the pay restaurants, but we don't bash the ones who do. This is no different from a pay restaurant.
carnival03 Posted January 22, 2014 #50 Share Posted January 22, 2014 You can find what cruises are offering this by just searching cruises starting in April of this year. The headline will feature the concert aboard that week. It's not available on our Legend cruise but I know paradise is offering one I believe.
