Hotel near La Guardia NY

We are spending one night post cruise in New York and need to be near the airport ,La Guardia, as we have an early flight out in the am. Any suggestions. My mom is quite picky and wants to know about the Marriott out there. How far is it from the airport actually and is it in a good area. Also since we have all day there we would like any suggestions as to what to do near this part of town. we will have already spent 3 days pre cruise in Manhatten so no need to see that part of town.

The Marriott is very nice as is the Crowne Plaza. If you are travelling with children, there is the Hall of Science very close by and it is a wonderful place to visit. Shea Stadium is also 5 minutes away if it's baseball season. The immediate area is not a great place for walking around. Both hotels are only 5 minutes from the terminal at LaGuardia.
