azdmelani Posted January 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2014 I will be going on a Mediterranean cruise over the summer. I know we are able to get cash from our onboard account in the casino without a fee. Does this have to be in the same currency your account is in (for example USD) or can it be in another currency (i.e. EUR)? Thanks for the help! SwissDave Posted January 30, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Princess are onto this 'free cash from the casino' malarky. If you download money to your player bank and cash out without playing, or with very little play then expect your card to be blocked.

rjack22 Posted January 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2014 On our last cruise which was four years ago I was able to pre-purchase casino credits. These came in the form of vouchers that came to our cabin. I was then able to take these vouchers to the casino and cash them in for cash. This saved me having to carry so much cash on me flying to the port. Can you still do this?
cruiser113 Posted January 30, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Yes you can, just did so myself. Called princess and told them that I wanted casino cash and it was charged to credit card and will be available when we cruise.

johnatsis Posted January 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Casino credits are a good way to get cash, plus when you charge them to your CC you can get your credit card points (2x for travel on Amex)

Pia1913 Posted January 31, 2014 #13 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Can you explain what a blocked card means? It means that if you've just put money on it and not played and just cashed out, next time you try to put money on it you won't be able to do so. You will have to get a manager or attendant and he/she will tell you what you did and if you do it again you will get no access. Like being sent to the principal's office or standing in a corner at school.

I have done this for a lot of my cruises plus double the points on my Princess visa CC card. When you cash the voucher in you can play the machine or not. No fee plus no shut off on card:eek:
Twinsfan5 Posted January 31, 2014 #16 Share Posted January 31, 2014 If you pre purchase casino credit and then for some reason don't use it, or don't use it all, can you get it refunded? I've never done this before but it seems convenient. Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app When you order the vouchers you just take them to the cage and they will give you the full value in cash. You do not have to play. If you have any left over credit vouchers then just cash them in at the casino prior to the cage closing on the last night.

Does this have to be in the same currency your account is in (for example USD) or can it be in another currency (i.e. EUR)? Thanks for the help! I believe the currency will be in whatever the currency of the ship is. I was in Australia on the Sun in November and it was the first cruise (in almost 30 cruises) the ship currency was not USD but it was the Australian Dollar. I had pre-purchased $4,000 in casino credit and it was converted into AUD.

Cruisin Broad Posted January 31, 2014 #23 Share Posted January 31, 2014 Do you have to specify the number of vouchers and the amount you want on each voucher? For example, if I wanted to pre-purchase $1000 casino cash, would I specify 10 vouchers of $100 each? Thanks.

Mingus Posted January 31, 2014 #25 Share Posted January 31, 2014 But this doesn't help you get back some of your non refundable obc. It seems now there is no distinction between OBC types. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1960352&highlight=refund+excess+obc
