sunshade Posted February 5, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 5, 2014 Was wondering if anyone has had any problems/delays with disembarkment in FLL after their Celebrity Constellation cruise. We have a 10:45am flight with Southwest heading to Buffalo on a Thursday.

janetz Posted February 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 6, 2014 (edited) Do ask to be in the first group off. As you walk into the luggage terminal hold up a tip for a porter. He will grab your bags, and lead you thru customs, out the door, and grab you a taxi very quickly. Works like a charm every time. :D Have a great cruise! ptcruzers Posted February 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 7, 2014 Additionally, check your bags with the Skycap and they will provide your boarding passes as well. Don't forget a nominal gratuity.:D:)
SnowshoeCat Posted February 7, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 7, 2014 I got off the Connie last Thursday. Self disembarkation, I walked off the ship at 7:26 and was at the airport at 7:45. I had plenty of time to check/catch up on my e-mails ;)
alcpa1 Posted February 7, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 7, 2014 If you can handle your luggage from cabin to taxi you can self disembark. This might entail carrying your luggage down stairs as the elevators are often too crowded to board. Self disembarking passengers gather near the deck 5 atrium and will disembark prior to the majority of passengers. They are off the ship earlier and face shorter lines with Customs and Immigration. I have often posted guidelines regarding early flights and disembarkation. Since you are flying Southwest, unless you have purchased their early boarding rate, you should check in at the 24 hour mark while onboard, or have someone you trust check you in elsewhere. If you are using a computer you can print your boarding passes as well. Fill out your duty and immigration forms accurately and completely. If you exceed your duty allow 20 minutes or so to pay. If you have exceeded allowances for liquor or tobacco products you will also face the duty charges and additional time. Keep all receipts handy and close to your passport or identifying papers. Do not wear any new jewelry, including watches. Do not carry off any fruit, vegetables or meat that is not packaged. Do not attempt to disembark with illegal items such as drugs, some ivories or corals, etc. Be aware that there are always random checks and one never knows if a customs agent will select you for further scrutiny. Take a cab. If you ship docks on time and if it is not the end of a repositioning cruise you should not have a problem making the flight.
