NSWP Posted February 13, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Sooo. Where is it?? Not in the Pacific Ocean I hope :) Still in Santiago, fitting a new rubber band to the engines, LOL. Can't trust those South Americans. Probably less than half full, so they did not bother flying it out, it happens. QF321/LA800, you had better be here Tuesday morning ! lizzy77 Posted February 13, 2014 #14 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Les, have you booked Patrick Watts tour to Volunteer Pt to see the King Penguins? That was a highlight of our SA trip. The scenery enroute was amazing, bumpy but worth the trip.

Hope we are able to tender in to Stanley, many ships don't get in because of sea state. Edited February 13, 2014 by NSWP

Thanks, yes A340-300, have travelled on LAN A340's a couple of times, LAX to Lima. LAN are generally ok. I have found out their one and only Boeing Dreamliner 787 is grounded and they are short of aircraft, hence the cancellation of several Friday flights, Syd - SCL. Yeah the 787 Dream/nightmare liners have been grounded on and off since their first flights. Last year they were all grounded for around 4 months. Far better in the A340.:) Edited February 14, 2014 by yatchet
K-Roo-Zers Posted February 14, 2014 #19 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Hi Les, Fingers and toes and everything else crossed for you! Travel safe and keep well! We were supposed to be on the 49 nighter on Crown, around South America but had to cancel due to illness in family. From memory, she sails today - oh well, lots of other cruises to do later on, but I only have one brother and we are glad to be supporting him during his Big C illness! Have a wonderful time, and I can't wait to hear all about it when you return. NIcki

bazshirl2 Posted February 15, 2014 #21 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Wishing you great cruises Les. We did Rio to San Fran 2 years ago on the Star P on a B2B repositioning cruise like yours in late Feb. Had good weather around the Horn but missed Ushuaia as the Argies were upset we had stopped at Stanley and wouldn't let us and a P & O ship dock. We had a great day exploring the Chilean fiords in lieu though. The discovery of vast oil reserves off the Falklands had stirred up their territorial dispute. They were protesting in Buenos Aires when we were there. Bon voyage !! Barry :)
stki Posted February 15, 2014 #22 Share Posted February 15, 2014 (edited) Have a great cruise Les We did the Grand Princess Fort Lauderdale to San Fran in 2013. Cant believe its been 12 mths since that cruise, which was the best cruise we have ever done. We missed the Faulklands- due to weather, but for the rest of the cruise, the seas were calm, even going around the Horn. Sounds great. I know somebody who recently did an overnight shore excursion to Maccu Picchu, and it was so expensive. One place that I want to visit one day.
