rjack22 Posted February 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Can someone tell me where the smoking area is on the outside Promenade deck on the port side on the Royal Princess? Is it the whole promenade or just certain parts? I am wondering if I need to move my cabin to starboard. Ferguscruise Posted February 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Just was on the Royal last week. The only smoking sections my husband found were deck 7 starboard aft and all of 17 aft. 7 was nice an quite with a few chairs. Meet some really nice people on 17 where they had limited drink service too.

Also, on other Princess ships only one section of this area is for smoking as it is an outdoor dining area. There should also be smoking most days in the Casino and in Churchill's cigar lounge on deck 6.

Ferguscruise Posted February 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Nope, right above the Horizon Terrace. And a guy came out to take drinks orders. During the day they put out tons of deck Loungers in the sun. Tables and chairs in the shade. In the evening they had just table and chairs. And yes they were smoking parts of the casino except for maybe one or two days.
rjack22 Posted February 13, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks Feguscruise! That is exactly what I wanted to know. Sounds like we will be fine on the Emerald deck midship portside.
OCruisers Posted February 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Thanks for the info. We were told Churchill's cigar bar is quite small. Is that true? LuLu ~~~~

rjack22 Posted February 13, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Not really. There are small sections here and there but nothing that goes all the way around.
Colo Cruiser Posted February 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Not really. There are small sections here and there but nothing that goes all the way around. Was not sure, I have heard the comments about the lack of and the restructuring of the Regal to address this. :)
Mom33 Posted February 13, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 13, 2014 The ship has a deck 7 that is open in parts to the public and parts to the crew. Just as in all other ships, the deck is the area for boarding life boats. It does not wrap around the ship and that is the main complaint. There are areas mid ship to sit on deck 7 and enjoy relaxing, and aft for lounging in cushioned teak loungers. When they open the crew areas, you will be able to walk the length of the ship. IAMGPW Posted February 13, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 13, 2014 Church is small. You can also smoke in the casino most nights. Deck 17 is the best for outside. Deck 7 is very small and non smokers are there because it's quiet

LuLu ~~~~ yes it is quite small and not very well ventilated. There were never more than a few people in there when I was on the ship.

Rare Kmkub Posted March 27, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 27, 2014 Does the smoke from the casino drift up to deck 7? There's shops right up there - wouldn't all the clothes in those shops get stinky from the smoke?

There's shops right up there - wouldn't all the clothes in those shops get stinky from the smoke? No. Giant clouds of cigarette smoke don't waft up from the casino. ;) In fact, during the two weeks while I was aboard Royal Princess I never once noticed the odor of cigarette smoke (at all) arising from the casino atrium, in the shops, or anywhere on Deck 7 above the casino. Ever.
