2red4u Posted February 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I booked today and I tried giving them the American Express code for 300.00 OBC. The rep told me it had to be booked through American Express and not directly with NCL. Is this everyone's experience? Also then does American Express own my booking like a travel agent? mommyto2girls Posted February 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 13, 2014 The Amex $300 OBC is good for Suites and Haven only. You can book through NCL with it, mane you were attempting to book something other than those 2 categories?

2red4u Posted February 13, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I booked a suite. I guess I'll be calling back to NCL. Thank you!
rvsullivan Posted February 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) And be aware that last week when I booked you cannot combine the Amex OBC with the $300 suite OBC. It's an either or situation. If you are to close to cruise time for the suite credit, then Amex should be done through your PCC. Good luck!! mommyto2girls Posted February 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) Can you book thru a TA? Yes because it is a valid code for suites. If you look on the NCL website it is under Specials then Preferred Partners valid through 3/31/14 Edited February 13, 2014 by mommyto2girls
Sunflower77 Posted February 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I tried to use the Amex OBC the other day (I think I called Sunday, I booked yesterday) for a haven suite. The rep said it wasn't working, but she found me another suite OBC for more - $400, so I'm glad it didn't work! This is for a June cruise, this year & it was past the 9 month booking window. 2red4u Posted February 13, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I just tried again. She said it was not combinable with the valentine day promotion.
mommyto2girls Posted February 13, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 13, 2014 I just tried again. She said it was not combinable with the valentine day promotion. A few years ago it was combinable, I think they stopped that last year. It is a question of deciding which one is better for you. We take the OBC because we already get everything else for Platinum or through the Casino.
RosieRoo Posted February 13, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 13, 2014 (edited) I booked a suite on the Dawn for this August last week. I checked today and the price had dropped by $100pp and I noticed the Valentines package. I called NCL this morning and rebooked at the lower fare, kept my $300 AmEx credit and got the new promo. I know it's all set because I have the new confirmation with the $300 OBC showing plus an amenities sheet showing the package amenities. I did this through the toll free number on the website. I used to have a PCC but he was useless so I just call the general number now when I want to book. Some of the agents are more knowledgable or more willing to go the extra mile than others. It's like all the cruise lines, ask three different people and you'll get three different answers. All I know is that I am less than 9 months from sailing but have an OBC of $300 and the Valentines promo. I don't know if it was because I rebooked due to the price decrease or not. Keep trying and good luck. Edited February 14, 2014 by RosieRoo
