mrsglovesapg Posted February 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 14, 2014 In all the piano bars I've been to on board a Carnival ship, there has been a range of anywhere's between 5 years old all the way up to people in their 80's. They have trivia with the piano player and nowhere does it state you have to be x years old to enter.
pansieFL Posted February 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted February 14, 2014 We take our son with us all the time and he is 10 :-) I have asked in the past and they have said that there is no age restriction but the language can get kind of rowdy and foul towards later in the night - I think you would be fine! Plant Posted February 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 14, 2014 (edited) Obviously I know they can't drink, but are they able to just hang out and listen? Yes, we spent a lot of time in the Piano Bar (one of the bar's where you can actually hear!) and there were little kids, from (guessing) 4 year's old, up to 19! It was a PIA late at night when people were singing and using "words" that might not be appropriate for "little kids", but generally it was a great place! 17 and 18 year olds should be accepted. roohound Posted February 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Even if they are allowed, I have yet to be at any piano bar that was appropriate for young children (17 & 18 should be fine). Using "words" that might not be appropriate for "little kids" is part of the fun of piano bars. If you're going to be daft enough to bring your young child to a piano bar, especially later in the evening, you better believe I'm probably going to be singing along with some "words" that might not be "appropriate." thomarvin Posted February 14, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 14, 2014 yes, they are. My boys (18 and 19) spent every night in there last summer. They had a blast.
SadieN Posted February 14, 2014 #8 Share Posted February 14, 2014 Some of Piano Players even have hopurs when the rough language would start, usuallly around 10. But many will just get the ball rolling from the beginning.
boaterette Posted February 14, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 14, 2014 As long as you dont expect everyone to watch their language than I dont see why they couldnt.
Jeafl Posted February 14, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted February 14, 2014 As long as you dont expect everyone to watch their language than I dont see why they couldnt. Frankly, I'd be more concerned with my 17 and 18 year olds watching THEIR language! ;) Thanks everyone for the information. :)
TheCalicoCat Posted February 14, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 14, 2014 I'm not a "regular" in the Piano bar. I don't recall any coarse language... (I also tend to retire early...:o)

And, they'll probably have a good time. The Piano Bar is one of my favorite entertainment venues on Carnival.
Jeafl Posted February 14, 2014 Author #13 Share Posted February 14, 2014 I hope it's fun. Two years ago on the Freedom it was totally dead every night. Many nights we peeked in and the piano guy was playing for 2-4 people. It was pretty sad.

I think that was so funny!:D I'd think that most...key word "most" kids 17 and 18 would be bored with the Piano Bar. I know my teenager would be anyway.
tree.critter Posted February 16, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Just a couple weeks ago with a very fun piano bar player we had a young (maybe 10ish) boy that was having a lot of fun with the rest of us.... at the time a pretty rowdy group. When asked for a Chuck Berry song he broke out with "My Ding-a-ling"..... Watching that young boys facial expressions were one of the highlights of the evening. He was sure having fun, don't quite know what he was really thinking but it sure didn't seem to affect anyone elses good time.
