Midwestgal Posted February 18, 2014 Author #76 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Skiwee, what is your first number from your VIFP club number. It seems some of the people with the free cruise's start with 7 Mine starts with a 9 and I received one.
DebJ14 Posted February 18, 2014 #77 Share Posted February 18, 2014 (edited) According to my PVP, the free cruises were offered to people who've had high Sail & Sign Accounts at some point in time, and who haven't cruised in a long time (an incentive to get these high spenders to return to Carnival). I guess your example proves that what my PVP said is not accurate. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Sorry to burst your PVP's bubble, but we cruised Carnival 3 times last year and got a freebie. We also NEVER have had a high Sail and Sign bill. Our 32 year old son got his letter. He has only ever sailed as a 3rd person in a cabin, also never had a high Sail and Sign bill and last sailed in 2012. JulesNBama Posted February 18, 2014 #78 Share Posted February 18, 2014 I received the offer December 18th, have sailed with Carnival on 3 different occasions, the last sailing was aboard the Triumph in 2008. I booked an interior Spa Cabin aboard the Dream in April for $50.00 per person, with a $50.00 per person on board credit. On previous cruises the sail and sign card spent an average of $2,000 per sailing. This is a well needed cruise, since the last sailing in 2008, I had a series of back surgeries that left me disabled and I suffered a stroke which left me paralyzed on the right side of my body. Have regained 80% of the use of my leg and arm. I used to be able to afford the annual cruise, but now the budget restraints of living on a fixed income has made it difficult. I am 47 years old and my last name begins with "J". Very thankful to Carnival for this opportunity to get away for a week in the tropics. Thank you Carnival! PaulMedik Posted February 18, 2014 #79 Share Posted February 18, 2014 grats paulmedik & family :) i'm glad to see you guys got in on this, regardless! i think carnival owes you a few free cruises as a 'marketing expense' for your great reviews  and grats to bryson on platinum at such a ripe old age of 18 lol. :D Mark, Thank you. If they owe me, then they certainly owe you and many of us as well! Can you imagine what the results would be if they did offer free cruises to those of us who write reviews? Cruise Critic would be over ran with photo reviews! That would be a good thing though; we could all cruise through each other! :D

tlsearay Posted February 18, 2014 #81 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Cruised on the Breeze, May 2013. $320 bar bill (did the Cheers program), almost no gambling, no special dining, 2 ship arranged excursions. Elation, June 2009, Imagination, August 2002. I can't remember my spending habits on these, but it wasn't much. From all the posts, it looks like this was very random. I will be back on the Breeze May 2014. Thank you Carnival!

I never gamble and my sign and sail bill is not high, don't book excursions or spend on Jewelry. I'm Platinum just sailed in Jan. and have another one book in May before this offer arrived.I'm from Georgia and VIFP# starts with 70. It also states on the letter New Offers will be added daily! Davey Wavey Posted February 18, 2014 #84 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Where is your proof that the offer was sent to Random people, or are you just regurgitating what you've heard/read on other threads? Regurgitating...because that's all we have. It is interesting to see some people think it is some sort of reward for undeserving people, or a promotion to lure back dissatisfied customers, or a lure for long absent customers, or a punishment for good customers, or a random drawing of stones from a hat, or comps for casino spending, or perks for shop spending, or targeted marketing for certain regions/age groups. There is no proof that I have seen, yet some people are certain enough to alter their cruise plans. Some say they are canceling, some say they are booking where they would not have otherwise. And only Carnival knows for sure what they are doing...maybe.
SirGoose29445 Posted February 18, 2014 #85 Share Posted February 18, 2014 I am a 31 year old male from Charleston, SC. Last cruise was in June of 2013 (Spa Balcony) and my first balcony. Previously had one booked before I got the free cruise for July of this year (which will be an interior). I will have seven cruises by the end of 2014 and a total of 36 days at sea. Never had a really high bar tab...Highest was $450 on my second cruise...others less than $200.00.
CheckersMidwest Posted February 18, 2014 #86 Share Posted February 18, 2014 Thought I posted this earlier, but can't find it now. Maybe it was on another thread... My husband received the free cabin letter. When I logged onto his VIFP account, clicked past guest and exclusive offers, it was listed there, along with the 50% deposit and upgrades. All those offers except the free cabin were also listed under my number as well as both our kids. We sailed in 2012 & 2013, late May both times. I booked online without a PVP. We did not have a cruise booked. My husband & son use the casino daily, winning quite a bit. They play roulette & craps, black jack. Those are cash games, so no record with Carnival of their spending habits. I use the spa, buy photos, play bingo once, and go to the bracelet & watch sales. We have 2 cabins. First cruise was 2 oceanviews, last one was 2 balconies. Our kids are in the other cabin, but all 4 of us are under one sign & sail account. First cruise $600 last one $1300. We get 3 soda cards and buy some alcohol. We do prepaid gratuities. Husband won a ship on a stick on both cruises. :D We don't use the steakhouse. We use the main dining room every night. We book some excursions through Carnival. We're from Missouri and our last name starts with P. VIFP number starts with a zero/four. We do have a PVP now. Discussed booking a B2B in 2015. Used him when we got the free cabin letter to make the reservation. He said the selection was random. I guess I choose to believe it is random. Don't really care. Life isn't always about being entitled to something.

momof2cruiser Posted February 19, 2014 #88 Share Posted February 19, 2014 Like many others, I am afraid I may have tossed the free cabin letter, thinking it was junk mail. Has anyone called Carnival to see if they can tell you if a letter was mailed or not? I may try today, but I am sure they are flooded with calls... Yes, or you can log into your carnival.com account and click on "Cruise Deals" (in red above your name), then click on "Past Guest Offers" and then click "View Your Offers". It will be there if you received one. Good luck!

CheckersMidwest Posted February 20, 2014 #91 Share Posted February 20, 2014 Once logged into the VIFP section, my husband's showed up under EXCLUSIVE DEALS only. Once we booked, it disappeared altogether and wasn't listed anymore. Assume because it's a one time thing & can't be used again.

Grits53 Posted February 21, 2014 #97 Share Posted February 21, 2014 (edited) My husband received the free cruise offer. I am the one who does all the booking and browsing the Carnival site. I play the slots, usually donating a couple hundred per cruise. He never gambles, other than the slot tournament. We don't buy much on the ship. He buys maybe 4 or 5 alcoholic beverages per 7 day cruise. We don't use the spa. We usually have a 9C aft wrap, but not always. Most, but not all, of our cruises have been 7 days. Our last one was on the Magic in April 2013. Our next one will be Magic Sept 28, 2014. He is on Carnival's file as having been in the military. I have been on 18 Carnival cruises, and he has been on 14. We live in north Louisiana and usually cruise out of Galveston, sometimes New Orleans, and twice out of Florida. He is not quite 62. My PVP told me that about 10 of her clients have received the free cruise. Edited February 21, 2014 by Grits53 error
Georgiagolfer Posted February 21, 2014 #98 Share Posted February 21, 2014 Seems very random in selecting who to offer these free cruises to me. DW and I haven't received, nor do we expect to. Will have no impact on us cruising or not. We have already decided that our next few cruises will be on other lines. I am not upset, mad, or otherwise with not receiving the free cruise offer. I congratulate those who have received the offers, and hope it works out well for you.:D To me though, it shows an attempt to get people on board. Evidently not enough people are booking on CCL, and if they can entice people to cruise, maybe they are hoping to recoup the $$ with on board spending. Who really knows their reasoning. Hate to say this, but I think CCL is desperate, otherwise why lower their rates like they have, small deposits, and now free cruise offers?

beberenn Posted February 21, 2014 #100 Share Posted February 21, 2014 I have received 2 free cruises in the past 9 months. Previous to the free offer I had cruised 9 times, on several dif ships. I have spent ALOT in the casino, more than a grand each time, some times I win, sometime I don't. I always have a big bar bill, $1000 at least! I buy pictures, excursions...ect. My first free cruise, I spent $200 only. Im leaving on my 2nd free one in 4 days. Also, have not heard mention of the $75 cruise? I also got another cruise for $75pp for a inside stateroom, that was $75pp+port charges, got that offer in my cruise deals on the website, it was there one day and the next day GONE. I had taken a picture of the offer and sent it to my DH, the next day when I went to book it, it was gone, so I called my PVP at carnival and texted him the picture and they honored it.
