cb at sea Posted February 15, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2014 What was disappointing about Pearl? A bit of what you didn't like would help us with recommendations! And, you can get brochures from each cruiseline, so you can "get a feel" for what is offered!

No comparison at all between the 2 cruises ! The Sky was awesome and the Pearl was a nightmare from boarding at port till arrival back in Miami ! Rare KKB Posted February 15, 2014 #4 Share Posted February 15, 2014 We (me, 47 & DH 51) like 1--Allure of the Seas (not RCI in general, but LOVE that ship) 2--Princess 3--DCL (but won't sail again--not worth the 30% higher price, and no casino) 4--RCCL Cruising Celebrity in 3 weeks My parents (69) like 1--Celebrity 2--RCCL 3--Princess distant 4--NCL We all agree none of these cruises were bad & we would do all of these lines again. My 85 YO aunt cruised Carnival & said she was bored! (she has cruised a lot) My cousins (40s & 50s plus their children & 78YO Dad) who have cruised alot did Carnival a couple years ago & said they wouldn't again--compared it to Super 8 after staying at Hyatt. They also didn't like MSC. My recommendation is RCCL.

mander_44 Posted February 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Been on 3 cruises with RCCL loved all three ships we have been on. Enchantment. Serenade and Oasis. Loved Oasis! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Mist_ynight Posted February 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted February 15, 2014 I've been on both Princess and Carnival. If you've been on a good cruise before I wouldn't recommend Carnival. I was pretty disappointed with the service and would not cruise with them again. My friend loves RCCL, she says they're better then Princess. I haven't sailed with them so I can't compare them but I love Princess personally.

Guest maddycat Posted February 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 15, 2014 We've sailed on RCI, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and Costa over the years. These days we only sail RCI and Celebrity. Our favorite is RCI.
cruiseapril Posted February 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 15, 2014 Hi- Have sailed on Carnival, Cunard, Holland America, Princess, and RCI. Enjoyed all cruises. Been on a mix of 4 day, 5 day, 7 day, 10 day, and one Transatlantic on Cunard. For a relaxed cruise with great service would suggest Holland America's Noordam or Westerdam. For more activity would suggest Carnival Freedom or RCI Freedom of the Seas. For a combination of relaxation and activity would suggest Caribbean Princess or Ruby Princess. Just my opinion. Have fun researching.
OCruisers Posted February 16, 2014 #11 Share Posted February 16, 2014 You might want to consider giving Princess a try! :) LuLu ~~~

Want some input on other cruise lines for our next cruise not sure if we will go back to NCL but would like to try other cruise lines to compare! Any help would be great ! Thanks fellow cruisers!! We have sailed many times on NCL mainly because they sail year round out of New York City so we don't have to fly in the winter. We grew tired of the same thing all the time so tried Princess because of the itinerary. We found that Princess is a better match for us - mid 60's - and have now sailed them twice and our next planned cruise is with Princess. It has many activities but not the frenetic activity of NCL. I'm comparing ships of similar size. Crew on both lines are friendly and helpful. You have your choice of traditional or anytime dining on Princess. We also tried HAL (not one of their new ones) once and found the ship depressing and dark. We have not tried HAL a second time. We made the decision to try Princess based on the tone of responses on the main Princess board here on CC.
mander_44 Posted February 16, 2014 #13 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Thanks mander will have to look closer at RCCL especially Oasis! What did you like more about Oasis than the other 2 mentioned? There were more things to do on Oasis. Better entertainment, more bar and lounge area. Lots of eating places! FawnRiver Posted February 17, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Thanks so much to everyone for all the info ! Have narrowed it down to Princess and Royal ! Thinking of Southern Caribbean this time !! The 10 day Southern Caribbean on the Emerald Princess is probably one of the best cruises we've done for overall experience. We'd do it again in a heartbeat. Regardless of what you choose, have a great cruise!
