!!! Altered train services from South Queensferry

I know I have already told you about the bus challenges around Edinburgh - now I need to add another. The Forth RAIL (not Road) Bridge will be closed until 31 July. This means two things

 

1. Although you will be able to get shuttle trains they will run to and from Dalmeny (the station for South Queensferry) it will be a reduced service, the trains will possibly take longer and it will be a tad chaotic

2. The roads will be very busy as many thousands of people commute using the trains - they will now try and take cars into Edinburgh so you will need to allow a lot longer for your taxi journeys, taxi may be more tricky to find and whatever you do, agree the fare in advance in case he gets held up in traffic as our meters are time as well as distance based

Hope this does not spoil the visits of anyone to our lovely city - maybe this is a time to use the ships services rather than go it alone though!!

Just to let everyone know that the Forth Rail Bridge is open again.

 

 

Edinburgh buses however are still working to a Saturday service.

Just a quick note to express our family's deepest appreciation for all of the kindness shown us while we visited Scotland. We absolutely loved Edinburgh, it was our very favorite. We will definately go back someday. We were so very impressed though with how nice every one was.:) What a very beautiful country.
