richfret Posted February 23, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Did the 2/1/2014 8 day Breeze cruise to Grand Turk, St Maarten, St Thomas and San Juan. This was our 16th cruise and all have been with Carnival so you might say we are a bit prejudiced. The ship is great and easy to get around. There are many places to eat so you won’t get bored. Food is ………………. OK. Not great but OK. Food reviews are so subjective I hate to go there. And “YES”, the floors are very slippery and you do have to be cautious. I have read this several times in other reviews but it is true. As so many have said, the main shows are disappointing. They have the sound set to “Deafening” and then laser lights that blinds the eyes. On the other hand the Magician and Juggler shows are outstanding. I would like to see them again. Three or four times I tried to do the Thrill Theater but it was either closed or in use. Some thing still to look forward to. The Cruise Director is OK but is very hard to understand at times. Never could make out the announcements. The ports are good for shopping and swimming. Nothing unusual to see after visiting them several times but they are very Caribbean. The crew is just amazing. We were very pleased and have nothing but praise for them. Weather was fine. Even though windy at times, the ship took the waves well. We were Mid Ship and Balcony. We bought a cruise while on this cruise so we will be back on the Breeze next year. We would not have done this unless we enjoyed the ship and the cruise. Also like the $100 OBC. I enjoy playing BINGO but twice it was cancelled and they really did not announce the cancellations. We sat and waited and nothing happened. Had some thing to do with the Entertainment Guests not being able to make the ship in time which affected Bingo held at the beginning of the shows. We did a Slot Pull with some members of our Meet & Greet group. We put in about $225 dollars and twenty minutes later we had zero. I doubt our winnings were ever as high as $25 during the entire event. I have about 300 pictures taken on the Breeze and the ports. Too many to post here but I do have them on PICASO and you do not have to do any down loading. If you want to see them, send me an E-mail and I will send you an invite with the pictures. Almost Packed Posted February 23, 2014 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2014 Thanks for your review. I'll be on the Breeze later this year and I'm super excited. Of course I'm reading any and everything I can about her. Glad you had a good time.

richfret Posted February 25, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted February 25, 2014 The cabin was 8280 and there are absolutely no problems. The floors at the buffet on the Lido deck are very slippery. When I first saw this in several reviews, I thought they were just being too critical. After you sail the Breeze, you will agree that none of the other Carnival ships have the problem that the Breeze does.

My E-mail is: richffret@gmail.com Where did you sit in the theatre? My wife and I just got off the Breeze and found upstairs was really load but downstairs the sound didn't seem as loud. And the lights aren't as annoying downstairs either. And we also found the floors around the Lido deck slippery. But overall I think the Breeze is a great ship and the food isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
vamartha Posted February 26, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 26, 2014 That floor in the Lido buffet is lethal if you are wearing the right shoes! It is slick no matter what but some of my shoes were worse than others - and one pair was downright dangerous! The amount of tread really wasn't the catalyst either, it seemed to be more the material, the ones that were the dangerous ones were brand new with tons of tread! Glad you enjoyed the Breeze - we loved it! :D

I found the sounds so loud that I will not attend those shows on my 2015 Breeze cruise which is already booked. So though I enjoyed the cruise, I did not enjoy the dancing shows. I found myself thinking "Who have they designed this show for?" Is it for a stadium audience? Are the majority of the cruisers in the audience 18 years old or less? Why was there so much RAP music? In the DIVA show, why are the costumes a jet black color for nearly the entire show. Why are all the songs at the same fever pitch for the entire show? They have really lost it. I have read this in several reviews but was giving the shows the benefit of the doubt. Now there is no doubt. "Not good. Start all over again." campdaan Posted February 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted February 26, 2014 Hi CAMPDAAN. Recognize the ID but forgot what cruise it was. Always glad to meet former Cruisers. Captain Rich My signature has all the cruises and dates. But I seem to think it was the Dream in 2010. May be possible there was another Cruise too. You always seemed to be great at organizing the rollcall threads IIRC. Hope we cross paths again on the high seas !

Now there is no doubt. "Not good. Start all over again." Well my wife and I enjoyed them. They were a little loud. Down stairs wasnt as loud. I dont remember all the costumes being black. Lots of people liked the music. At least lots were cheering and clapping. I have no interest in seeing a Broadway show. And they can't be all that bad being as one of the guys just left to go to broadway. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Im 40.
richfret Posted February 26, 2014 Author #14 Share Posted February 26, 2014 Just read in Porthole magazine that 70 percent of Carnival cruisers are over 55 years of age. That's why I think these shows are designed for the wrong audience. Now don't get me wrong, I now have been on 17 Carnival cruises and the 18th is booked. I like Carnival. I have 132 points in the VIFP Program. I use to like their shows but not the current ones for the reasons noted. Thank God for the Casino, Pizza, golf, our balcony, the Thrill theater, Bingo. many lounges, the Lido Deck activities, etc. I'll find some thing to do. kenrod Posted February 26, 2014 #15 Share Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) where / what floors are slippery? have g'ma going with and cant have her taking a header.... Thanks!! I was on the Breeze last week. The slippery floors are in the Marketplace buffet restaurant (Deck 10 mid to aft). I was wearing brand new running shoes, and found myself slipping and sliding like I was walking on ice. It was treacherous especially when you have a tray full of food and drinks and when it is crowded. Eventually I got used to it and walked more carefully and on the carpets whenever possible. Other than that nuisance, I really enjoyed the ship! Edited February 26, 2014 by kenrod
