What can you tell me about Charleston and Fantasy?

We love the Fantasy. We will be sailing on her for the 5th time coming up in May.

There are 3 very picture heavy reviews in my signature below if you are interested. I tend to ramble a bit but I take pics of EVERYTHING. There are 3 itineraries represented. 6 day (they no longer have that itinerary though) to Key West, Nassau and Freeport.....5 day to Nassau and Freeport and a 7 day to Nassau, Grand Turk and Half Moon Cay.

The one we are going on in May goes to Little Stirrup Cay and Nassau. There is a review for that one as well but it was on Fascination.

I cant wait to get back onboard!

Charleston is gorgeous but I am a little bit biased as a native Charlestonian. ;)

We did Fantasy as a family reunion of sorts with 6 cabins last June. Ages ranged from almost 80 to 2.5. Teens, 20's and everywhere in between. Some are seasoned cruisers. Some prefer Holland (blue hairs that they are) and some prefer Carnival and most had never cruised.

We all had ocean view rooms. We usually have at least a balcony.

O/V was great, surprisingly. Roomy and we did ok without the balcony.

We've driven to Baltimore and Charleston. Both were easy. Charleston was a little more snakey in the cones to get to luggage drop off, and be careful - the baggage guys will unload your spare tire if you're not watching. If it's in the trunk - marked or not, it's coming out and going on the luggage dolly! :) they are good and efficient.

We drove over to the parking warehouse and got parked and walked a short distance to the shuttle bus. We didn't wait long - not more than 10 min. It was hot, but there was plenty of shade.

Because we had so many people and the kids we did FTTF. We also had a bunch of mixed up cabins - we booked the past guests in each room to ensure we could get best rates and knew we'd do a lot of changes once we got on the boat. That VIP line was worth its weight in gold.

It was very nice to get right on and get the bags dropped off and start unpacking right away and try to get my toddler rested before muster. It's non stop from muster - and tired 2 yr old in MDR for dinner isn't fun for anyone!

Fantasy was fun, service was always with a smile, food was great, drinks were strong, casino paid, Camp Carnival was fun.... and we did the 7 day cruise that goes to Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk.

My nephew had so much fun, he took his girlfriend on the Fantasy again for New Year's this year.

As for where to stay - I stayed with family. Can't help you there! :( Sorry. But lots of others can. We would have stayed downtown in the historic district though. Charleston is AMAZING!

Hello to another kentuckian! The fantasy is a great ship. I dont know where you are at in kentucky but i usually just drive down the day of the cruise. It is about an 9 hour drive. Charleston is unique also if anybody in your party has handicap tags or placard they get free parking. Hope you will have fun and GO BIG BLUE!
