Is it possible to get off the ship after embarkation in HNL before ship sets sail? Anything around pier to do?

This is where the ship docks and where you can do some shopping, dining, sightseeing. There is also a neat maratime museum next door. Across the street is chinatown for some great food.....and down the street is Hilo Hattie and Kmart for last minute items. Yes, you can get off and on....the tower is right at the dock, everything else is fast walking distance.
