lady_cruiser Posted March 23, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 23, 2014 This is the latest news that was posted on the Navigator's Meet and Mingle Roll Call. Here is the message they received from Royal Caribbean concerning their boarding times. "This is an important message regarding your upcoming cruise. Hello, this is Royal Caribbean International. We would like to provide you with important update regarding your sailing today, March 23, 2014, onboard Navigator of the Seas. As reported previously, the U.S. Coast Guard has closed all inbound and outbound vessel access to the Port of Galveston at this time. The U.S. Coast Guard is currently deploying aircraft to determine the extent of the oil spill and its impact to vessel traffic in the port. Results from this survey are expected to reported in the next few hours. Therefore, the Navigator of the Seas’ return to Galveston continues to be held. Because of this, your boarding today will be delayed and we ask that you do not depart for the port at this time. We will provide you with another update at 1:00 p.m. this afternoon. Should we receive information from the authorities sooner, we will update you accordingly. As always, we appreciate your patience until this situation is resolved." Hope all get back to normal soon!....Happy Cruising! Because other ports never get fog, right? There probably aren't as many fog delays as you think. Nobody ever posts to say "No fog, Cruise left on time". If all you see are posts about delays, but not posts about leaving on time, that's what sticks in people's minds. Between myself and friends who have cruised out of Galveston in the past few years, we have maybe a dozen or so cruises. I only know of one that was delayed by fog. Hope they get the mess with the oil cleaned up soon. Edited March 23, 2014 by Rudyard

mek Posted March 23, 2014 #24 Share Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Just reading the roll calls for both of these two ships - quite a few posts from those waiting to board. Not sure if it's better to be on Caribbean Princes and just be sitting there or on land waiting, but I guess the poor people in the port don't know if they should make hotel reservations for tonight or not, so probably better to already be on board. And not good for those of you currently on Magic and Navigator who have flights and work obligations tomorrow. Either way, not much fun. Hope it works out for everyone involved in this mess. It isnt a question of whether other ports get fog but whether they close for fog. i also saw where Navigator of the Seas is parked along with Magic waiting to get in.
